In New Hamburg Sunday af- ternoon, the Jets were leading 4-2 with less than nine minutes to play in the third period when the roof fell in and the New Hamburg Screaming Eagles pulled out a 5-4 victory. The Jets will be back in action Friday night at the Ilderton arena when they play host to the Durham Huskies. A Sunday evening ' contest has the Jets travelling to Woodstock to meet the Royals. The Screaming Eagles held a wide edge in the shots on goal . departinent with 47 to 24 for the Jets.lOnly the greet goal tending of Sonny Pennington kept the Jets in contention for most of the game. The only goal of the first period came with Jacques Cousineau put the puck into the New Hamburg net with less than three minutes left. After taking passes from Jamie Robb and Barry Baynham, Cousineau broke in on goal and after being turned around was able to get his own rebound. The Jets scored twice in the middle period with only one reply from the Eagles. Jack Nairn registered the first as he tipped in a blue-line shot by Bill Dunnell. Cousineau also assisted. Jamie Robb was the next L-I performer to score as he in- tercepted a pass from one New Hamburg defenceman to another and walked in on goal to hit the mark. Darrell Graham fired the first NH goal at 5,32 of the second frame as the Jets were playing one man short. Roger Kropf with the first of two third period goals put, Ne ti, Hamburg back in contention at 3.27. It took Jeff Craig of the Jets only three minutes to put his club two goals in front again as he blasted in a slap shot from the blue line. Assisting was Don Carter. At 11.42, the home team started to roll and goals by Bob Ruthig, Roger. Kropf and Clare Wagler decided the issue for New Hamburg. Veteran Jets defenceman Bill Dunnell missed the third period action because of injuries. Also on the sidelines were injured Rick Campbell and Dick Doughty and Terry Johnson who is sitting out a three game suspension. 111111.1.111M111"Mitircall.,15602111g, Don Taylor And Staff Invite You To The $avings In Their Anniversary SALEBRA STARTS TODAY Runs Through To Christmas We at Don Taylor Motors are especially pleased that our 7th birthday salebration coincides with this special time of the year.
