A total of 103 cases were
processed in Exeter court,
Tuesday, but only a small portion
were finalized. It was the first
court session of the month, and
most cases were presented only
to have trial dates set Some were
set over until. April.
However, in one case that was
finalized, Brenda Coll, London,
was sentenced to three days in
jail and placed on probation for
two years after pleading guilty to
charges of forgery and false
pretences.
The woman had forged another
signature on a family allowance
cheque in one instance.
In cases where she had
received funds under false
pretences, she had made
restitution for all but $80 of the
money received.
Her lawyer pleaded for a
probation term, but the Crown
Attorney noted the woman was
old enough to realize the serious
nature of the charges.
Judge Hays agreed they were
major crimes and levied the jail
term.
Ronald C, Lindenfield, Exeter,
was given an absolute discharge
when he appeared for sentencing
on a mischief charge. He had

first appeared, Lindenfield said

The Ontario ministry of housing
has advised all municipal coun-

severence committees to refuse
land severences in cases where
buildings are planned in proximi-
ty to existing livestock and
poultry operations.
The ministry hopes that such
recommendations will be follow-

Exeter Councillor Tom
MacMillan said the ministry
should also recommend that new

not be allowed in proximity to ex-
isting residential buildings as
well.
