you with the key that will open the door to

OHC has allocated serviced building lots for
the construction of 74 detached houses in the
vicinity of Bruce and Catherine Streets in Port
Elgin.
Seven of the houses will be made available
to rent-geared-to-income tenants as part of the
Ministry of Housing's policy of integrating
social housing into the general community.
Families interested in buying one of the
remaining 67 houses should apply to the builder
of their choice. As the H.O.M.E. Plan is
designed to assist families obtain home
ownership, only couples, or individuals with at
least one legal dependent, are eligible.

By making land available on a lease basis, OHC
removes lot costs from the necessary down
payment for a house. As a result, homes may
be purchased with a down payment as low as
five per cent of the house price.
With a minimum down payment, a family with
a current gross annual income as low as $9,760
may qualify for a house.
The lots are offered on the basis of a 50-year
lease with the home owner having the option
to buy the land at any time after five years
of the lease have elapsed. Approximate
monthly ground rent payments will be $48.
Mortgage financing for the houses is being
provided by the Province of Ontario on a
five-year term at 8 3/4 per cent interest with an
amortization period of 35 years,
The purchase of H.O.M.E. Plan houses is limited
to single-income families whose current gross
annual earnings do not exceed $14,500 and
to two-income families earning up to $17,000
annually. Only families resident in Ontario' for
at least one full year Ore eligible to apply for
a house.

Couple honoured on
anniversary
The meeting for senior citizens
in the community centre on
Saturday afternoon turned out to
be quite a surprise for the Ted
Bowdens as it had been planned
by their family in celebration of
their parents 45th wedding an- .
niversary,
Following an afternoon of
cards and crokinole a
smorgasbord meal was served.
Readings by Lloyd Morgan, Mrs.
Kenneth Hodgins and the witty
remarks of Cecil Skinner added
to the enjoyment of the af-
ternoon. Celebrations continued
on Sunday with a dinner at the
Garage in London followed by a
social time at the home of Donna
and Ray Paynter and family,

Patrons at the Exeter arena
may soon not have the
availability of free telephone
service,
RAP moved this week to have a
pay telephone installed to end the
nuisance of youngsters marching
into the arena office to mil home
asking parents to pick them up,
John Stephens said the
youngsters knew when they were
done skating or hockey and the
telephone calls were unnecessary
in most instances.
The main office in the arena
will be locked in future, although
members of the minor hockey
and figure skating associations
will' be given keys so they can
have access to the facility for
conducting their normal

The November meeting of the
Messengers was held in the
church school room on Sunday
morning and opened with the
motto, Business was discussed
followed by a minute of silence in
observance of Remembrance
Day, A story was told and games

Centralia United Church
Women held their November
meeting on Thursday November
7 with a white cross and poppies
spotlighted at the front of the
room, for Rememberance day.
The opening hymn was ac-
companied by Mary Shoebottom
at the piano,
Mrs, Ken Hodgins read the
scripture and led in the Apostle's
Creed. Mrs. Ken Greb gave a
reading on Rememberance Day
followed by two minutes silence.
Ruth Ann Essery played a
piano solo "Valiant Hearts."
Mrs. Ken Hodgins read Psalm 46
and gave a commentary on it,
Mrs. Mary Lou Tascho played a
piano solo. Mrs. Lorne Hicks
showed slides on Greece, the
Parthenon, Bavaria, "Oberom-
murgan" - the home of the
passion play held every 10 years,
Switzerland and North America
including some of the neighbours
and senior citizens.
Mrs. James Essery, president
opened the business meeting with
a poem entitled Time. A
Christmas dinner was discussed
for senior citizens. The UCW are
going to purchase a new floral

and Mrs, Hazel Eaton led in the
meditation, Mrs. Marguerite
Greenlee lead in prayer. Miss
Nancy Tindall gave a reading
which was enjoyed by all. Mrs,
Mary Davis gave a paper on
prayer and example.
Mrs. Greenlee read the
minutes of the October meeting.
Mrs. Joan Greenlee invited the
members to her home for the
Christmas meeting and gift
exchange. An invitation from the
ladies of Brinsley group for their
tea and bazaar, on November 27
was read.
The hostess assisted by her
daughters Nancy and Marylou
served refreshements.

OHC has allocated serviced building lots for
the construction of 38 three and four-bedroom
detached houses for sale under the H.O.M.E.
Plan in the Huron Ridge subdivision, west of
Queen Street on the'. northern boundary of
Kincardine.
These houses include four three-bedroom units
which will be bought by OHC for allocation
to applicants for rental housing selected from
OHC's waiting list.
They will be rented on a geared-to-income scale
as part of Ministry of Housing policy into inte-
grated rental housing in the general community.
The remainder will be allocated on a first-come,
first-served basis.
Sixty per cent of the dwellings will be three-
bedroom units and the remaining 40 per cent
four-bedroom units.
Families interested in purchasing one of the
houses should contact the builder of their
choice. As this program is designed to assist
families obtain home ownership, only couples,
or single individuals with at least one legal
dependent, are eligible.
