Each team scored two goals in the first period and the Irish moved in front 5.4 after 40 minutes of play and outscored the Hawks three goals. to one in the final session. In the third period, the Irish scored three times, Blinking the light were Mike McIntyre with his third of the game, Craig Corman and Ed Robb. The final Hawks counter came at the 10:43 mark on a shot by Matt Muller. Gerald Weido assisted, The Irish took 13 of the 25 penalties handed out by referee Frank Slota of St. Thomas. Ted Ducharme was the top goal scorer for Precious Blood not- ching the only score of regular play and combined with Doug Brooks and Dave Robinson on the penalty kicks. SH runners show well Runners from South Huron District High School turned in excellent performances in the annual invitational cross country meet at the University of Western Ontario, Saturday. South Huron won the girls team race with 23 points with runners finishing second, fifth, seventh' and ninth. The local athletes finished fourth in the co-ed race with each school represented by two boys and two girls. In the high school girls four kilometres race which is about two and a half miles Janet Gielen of South Huron was second finishing only four seconds behind the winner Colleen Connolly of Wheable. The London athlete set a new record of 16 minutes and 19 seconds. Lucy Van Esbroeck of South Huron was fifth and Kathleen Gielen finished seventh. Agnes Van Esbroeck was ninth. Bob Robinson of Lieury walked to open the sixth and raced home with the winning run as Paul Hodgins tripled down the left field line. T-A photo Hawks in Lambeth, Sunday List OHA junior schedule The regular season in the Ontario Hockey Association Junior "D" western division opens Sunday when the Exeter Hawks travel to Lambeth to meet the Flyers. The first home start for the Hawks will be Friday, October 25 when the Mitchell Hawks will be supplying the opposition. This year nine teams will be competing in the area league. Newcomers to the league are from Port Stanley and Seaforth. Back for another year are Mitchell, Tavistock, Lucan, Belmont, Lambeth and Strathroy along with the local Hawks. The Clinton Mustangs, league members last year have moved up a notch and will be competing in a Western Ontario Junior "C" loop, Eight of the nine teams in the Junior "D" league will make the playoffs. The top three teams at the end of the regular schedule will have their choice in playoff opposition in order and the fourth place finisher will take on the team that is left over. The league convener this year is Bill Sampson of London, He will also act as statistician. - Home games for the Exeter club will be on three different days.
