Farm Accident, Funeral services were held last Monday for the late Charles Pergel who passed away sud- denly Friday October 4, as the result of a tractor accident in his 49th year. Mr. & Mrs.. Pergel farmed for a few years in this area on the farm formerly oc- cupied by Mr. & Mrs. Chris Baumgarten, Bride-elect Honoured There were around 100 relatives and friends at a joint miscellaneous shower Saturday evening at Shipka Community Centre for Bonnie Sweitzer of Grand Bend and Michael Erickson of Sarnia whose marriage will take place early in November. Hostesses were the bride's two aunts Mrs. Milton Sweitzer and Mrs. Jack Pickering.The social time was spent in a musical program with duets sung by Greg and Gail Brady of Welland) cousins of the bride. United Church Women The October meeting of the UCW was held on Monday evening with Mrs. Robt. Mayer as hostess. Mrs. Ken Duncan, programme convener, was in charge of the meeting and the Theme was "Thanksgiving". Mrs. Duncan gave an opening thought on Thanksgiving. Mrs. Rick Mellenger read the Scripture and Mrs. Duncan gave a reading "We Give Thanks" followed by a Thanksgiving prayer. Mrs. Alvin Passmore played a piano solo, Mrs. Barry Jeffery gave the study book on thoughts per- taining to Thanksgiving.
