The "Bake- in-a-Pie" local leaders short course will be held at Hyde Park LTC Nov. 5-6. The needlecraft short course is to be shared with Beechwood Inst. in their Hall in March. Members are to deliver their own glass bottles to one of the London fireballs this Fall, or hold them over until Spring glass drive. Two bicycle are waiting at the Ltican_ detachment office of the Ontario Provincial Police for their owners to pick them up. Sgt. Sid Daley says a girls and a boys bike have been found in the Lucan area and they may be claimed by providing proper identification. Again this week, most of the accidents investigated by Lyman detachment officers involved only one vehicle. The first of two mishaps with two vehicles involved occurred Wednesday at 12,55 p.m. The drivers involved were Henry William Thomson, Mitchell and Sheila Charlton, RR 1, Lucan. The mishap occurred on High- way 4 a quarter mile south of the Lucan public school. Constable D, R. Vance estimated damages at $400. Monday afternoon Constable James Craig listed damages at $650 when vehicles driven by Terrence Johnson, RR 3, Granton and Terrence Dart, London collided on County road 23 at the Hardy sideroad. Tuesday in the first of the single vehicle crashes, a car driven by Richard Snyder, Kitchener was forced off the road. Constable W. R. Disher set damages at $200. Early Wednesday afternoon two passengers in a vehicle driven by Vera Andrus, Port Huron, Michigan were taken to University Hospital in London suffering fractures. The accident occurred on Highway 7 a half mile west of Highbury Avenue when the wheels went off the edge of the road and went out of control. Constable D. R. Vance listed'damages at $1,000. Safety report cards were given to the reporter, Mrs. M., It Hodgins, who asked that mem- bers and others in the community report on accidents in the home, on the farm, or on the highways, etc., involving farm equipment. Only if these are reported can the Safety Council report in- telligently for this area. No names need be given, just the type of accident, when and where and injuries sustained, if any. Explorers on first expedition DALEY'S WEEKLY COMMENTS A spectacular A wonderful trip through Europe was shared with mem- bers of the W.I. by Mrs. John Devall of London, when the group met last Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Sheridan Revington. Gail and her husband bad worked very hard and saved their money, prior to their marriage, and then took a year's honeymoon, via plane to London where they bought a van and thence to Dover, across the channel to Dunkirk, through Belgium, Holland, Sweden. Norway, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Tangier, the Canary Islands, Monaco, Switzerland, Austria and France. Owing to lack of time at the meeting only a chosen 100 of her 500 pictures were shown. Gail ended her travelogue by modelling a "jalaba", the national dress worn in Morocco. Mrs. Cecil Robb presented Mrs. Devail with a "thank you" gift on behalf of the members. The roll call, "Give your height and measurements in meters" caused,...considerable c,.on, stermtkon among the members,b but they were assured by Mrs. Harold Snelgrove, convener for Education & Cultural Activities, during her talk on the Metric System, that knowledge would come gradually. Her matching head- piece held a three tiered fingertip veil and she carried a cascade of mums and sweetheart rose, Carole Mason of Lucan was maid of honour, She wore a gown with a fitted bodice, long sleeves and a full skirt in figured polyester and carried a cascade of mums and yellow roses. The best man was Jim Carlton of Barrie and Doug Smith, Willowdale and Robert Holland, Lucan ushered the guests, Following a reception at the Pentecostal Holiness Church the bride changed to a two piece navy and yellow dress with navy ac- cessories for a wedding trip to Northern Ontario. The couple will reside in Willowdale. Out of town guests were present from Toronto, Barrie, Timmins and Wiarton. The Lucan-Clandeboye Explorers held their first Expedition of the Fall season at the Church on Monday afternoon, after school, in the form of a "playparty." Mrs. Wm. Froats, Chief Counsellor, directed a games period and Mrs, Ross McRoberts led the girls in a rousing singsong. Lunch of hot dogs and ice cream cones was 'enjoyed by the girls. The next two Expeditions will be held on September 30 and October 7 as soon as possible after school. Make it a date to take it all in - Should be fun. The president of Strathroy Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion advises their branch is setting up a museum of war memorabilia. If you have anything suitable you would care to contribute - medals, hand grenades, shoulder flashes, uniforms, guns just about anything having to do with war time you may leave it with me and I will make sure that it is delivered. The first meeting will be on Flower Arranging, by Mr. Ken Moor, and girls are asked to bring any stiff- stemmed cut flowers they may have, glads, mums, etc. It is important that all girls, intending to join, attend this first meeting as it will be the only one on Floral arrangements. AND MRS, ALAN GOOD Following the supper meeting on Monday evening, September 16, the members of the Lucan & District Lions Club voted payment for Ice Time for the St. Patrick's school skating program at the Lucan Arena, The announcement was made that House League Hockey Registration will take place on Saturday, October 26, ages 6-17, to run for 18 Saturdays, 5 hours each week, plus 2 hours each Wednesday evening for games. The Parks Committee reported that they had met with a Parks Engineer from the City of Lon- don, re further development of the Lions Club Park. This season's campaign chairman is Murray Hodgson with Iva Hodgins as assistant Chairman and Bob Gee as vice- chairman, Education Chairman for this year will be Eileen Summers and Alidor Cocquyt.
