Alpha Pi hold
first meeting
The Alpha Pi chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi met Tuesday evening
at the home of Sharon O'Toole
with six guests present.
Dorothy Balsdon read the story
of Beta Sigma Phi. Fifteen
members answered the roll call
which was giving a selection of
prose that showed an interesting
use of speech.
Mary Ellison presented a
program entitled "speech". A
comic skit was presented by Jay
Skillender and Glenda Wagner.

Members of Xi Gammu Nu
chapter met for a pot luck supper
at the home of president, Mrs.
Ron Bogart for their first
meeting.
Tickets for the Thanksgiving
Dance for the Canadian Arthritic
and Rhuematism Society, to be
held November 1 at Huron Park,
were given to members to sell.
The ways and means com-
mittee reported a profit of $62.28
on the coffee and tart sale at the
Exeter Fair. $100 was received
from the Playground super-
visors which was raised from a
bike-a-thon held in the summer
and this money is to be placed in
a fund for the swimming pool
heater for Victoria Park.
Plans were also discussed to
help at the next Blood Donor
Clinic in January.

Bake in preheated 375 F oven for
30 to 35 minutes, or until golden
brown. Turn pan upside down on
rack immediately. Allow syrup to
run over rolls for several minutes
before removing the pan.
Makes about 24 buns.
NOTE: With the remaining two
thirds of the dough you can make
two more recipes of chelsea buns
or you can try Cinnamon Rolls or
Hungarian Coffee cake.

take them down off their shelves
or walls and bring them to the
fair," Organizers are not sure
how to attract more entries but
hope local talent will show itself
better next year,

on Saturday of pictures from
former year's fairs, He also had a
display of several colourful
hooked rugs of original designs.

"ecology boxes", a collection of
unusual articles each mounted in
separate sections of a small box
frame which is later mounted on

S.H.D.H.S. gave a demonstration
on the methods of batik on
The arts and crafts section of
the Exeter Fall Fair featured
several new crafts and demon-
strations of some old and some
new arts and crafts.
However, organizers of this
year's craft display and judge

the number of entries arid in the
quality of some of the work,
Entries in all divisions of the
arts and crafts competition were
down over last year and several
of the new crafts, demonstrated
at last year's fair, were not
represented at all.
President Mrs. Maxine Sereda

Liquid embroidery was also.

, Mrs. Ted Snider won the
Elimville W,I. award for the most
points in class 41 of the arts and
crafts division, She took first
prize for needlepoint, an em-
broidered picture, a string art
picture, a picture with a wooden
background, homemade flowers
and a pencil sketch.
She also took second in the
button picture contest and third
for her homemade wax candles,
Bethel Reformed Church
Placed second in class 41, arts
and crafts with three firsts and
three seconds. Mrs. Singh of
Huron Park placed third.
In the painting competition
Mrs. R. M. Peck of Henson
Flower entries up from '73,
arrangements most popular
plants, foliage and herbs.
Mrs. Maxine Sereda took
second place with a first in
African violets and a second in
rare plants. Mrs. Olive Thomp-
son of Exeter took one second in
foliage and thirds in African
violets and herbs,
Other competitors were Mrs.
Ted Snider, Exeter UCW, Mrs._
Wilfred Colclough, Mrs, Gordon
Smith, Roy Pepper, Ray Cann
and Mrs. Thos. Bern.
In the cut flower class Mrs. C'
Zeehuisen topped the class with
two firsts, seven seconds and four
thirds to win the McConnell
Nursery Special of $3,00 worth of
merchandise for the most points
in the class.
Mrs, Gwen Coward placed
second with four firsts, three
seconds and _.,one third and Mrs.
Thos Hera placed third with three
firsts one second Ind two thirds,
Mrs. Olive Thompson won the

president for the fall fair '74
reported that entries were up in
everything in the flower
department this year. The flower
arrangements went over par-
ticularly well. Mrs. Sereda said
that, this class is more popular
because it takes more ingenuity
and allows for a greater variety
of flowers.
Organizers of the flower
displays feel that they will need
more space next year to display
the many entries to their best
advantage and hope to make
some changes in the methods of
