and erocheters were well
represented in the Home
Dep.artrnent at the Exeter Fair
on the weekend.
Women's. president, Maxine,
Sereda reported that entries in
the home department were dawn
a little froth last year and that
judges felt that some of the work
was a little on. the poor side.

competition Mrs. Hugh Morenz
took first place with one first
prize ribbon, and three seconds.
Mrs, E. E. Riley of RR g,
Hensall, took one first and one
third and Mrs. Olen Swart-
zentruber,Zurich took one second
and two thirds,
Brenda Becker of Credlton won
first prize for her hooked yarn
rug and a second in the quilt
division.
In the sew, knit and stretch
class, Mrs. Ted Snider, Exeter
took top honours with one first
place, one second and two thirds.
Other prize winners in this
class were Mrs. Robert White,
RR 1, St, Marys and Mrs. Singh,
Huron Park.
Mrs. Ray Cockwill won the
Hopper Hockey special for a bra,
girdle and swim suit, and Mrs.
Olive Thompson won second
prize,
Mrs.Shirley Cooper won the
third prize donated by Polka Dot
for a man's or boy's tailored knit
jacket.
Dashwood W.I. placed first for
their bridal shower exhibit with
Crediton and Hensall placing
second and third.
sewing Queen for 1974 with ten
firsts, four seconds and two thirds
in ladies wear, men's wear and
children's wear. She received a
$15.00 cash award donated by the
Hurondale W.I. The runner-up,
Mrs, Ted Snider had one first, six
seconds and four thirds and was
awarded a $5 prize donated by
Dinney Furniture.
Bethel Reformed Church
placed third in the sewing
competition with four firsts,
three seconds and one third.
In the miscellaneous class of
the home department Mrs. Hugh
Morenz placed first with four
first prizes, four second and two
third place ribbons,
Bethel Reformed Church took
second place in this class with
four firsts, one second and two
thirds and Mrs. E, E. Riley of
Hensall placed third with two
firsts, one second and two thirds.
In the crocheting division
Bethel Reformed Church took the
top prize and Mrs, Thos Hern
took second.
Kay Hay of Exeter placed first
in the knitting competition with
Mrs. Olive Thompson of Exeter
second and Mrs. -Ann Kungel of
liensall third,
Crocheting and knitting classes
Were strong And organizers plan
to add more classes in these
sections for next year. "The
trends seem to be changing, Mrs.
Sereda said," and this year there
seems to have been more interest
in these classes than in the past."
Another class to be added next
year will be a seeden on bed-
spreads. Several types of bed-
spreads, including one with frills,
embroidered top, quilted top and
others will be considered.
A junior homemaking queen
has not been chosen yet since
entries in this class were scarce,
Organizers are planning a bigger
class for junior homemaking next
year with new competitions to be
added and a special prize for the
girl with the most points in
sewing, knitting and crocheting.
The women's department at
the fair is also considering more
efficient ways of returning the
goods after the fair, "Right now
its a real mess," Mrs. Sereda
said. 'Ladies are sending their
children down to pick up their
entries and we have no way of
knowing if the things they are
taking actually belong to them."

the ceremony and Mrs. Fred
Haberer, Zurich provided the
music.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride chose a floor
length gown of white crepe with
lace sleeves, and a lace inset with
a high collar. The gown was
accented by an empire waist and
a full length veil edged with lace
was held in place by a crown type
cap.
She carried a bouquet of white
carnations and baby's breath.
Nancy Baker, sister of the
bride was the maid of honour and
the attendants were Donna
Baker, sister of the bride and
flowergirl Tracey Baker, niece of
the bride.
The attendants were dressed
alike in gowns blue, mauve and
white flowered sheer of the same
design as the bride's. They
carried white daisies and blue
carnations.
Gary Snyder of Detroit
Michigan was the best man and
David Durand ushered the guests
David Durand Junior was the
ringbearer.
After a reception at the Dash-
wood Community Centre the
bride changed to a two piece light
blue dress and jacket for a
wedding trip to the east coast.
The couple will reside in
Detroit.

Following the wedding dinner
in the church parlors a reception
and dance was held at the
Kirkton-Woodham Community
Centre.
The bride's going away outfit
was a brown corduroy pant suit
trimmed with beige lace and a
corsage of daisies.
Prior to the wedding the bride
was honoured at many showers.

companiment with guitar and
mouth organ. Step dancing
students of Miss Norma Garrett:
Gerard, Mary Margaret and
Charlie Bedard danced as a
group and solo numbers ac-
companied by Mrs. Margaret
Garrett at the piano.
By the way, we are having a
fall rally for volunteers following
the "Family Night" program on
October 10. If you would have
some spare time for volunteer
work, we would be happy to have
you attend.
Mr. John Nesbitt, of Blyth, was
welcomed to the Home at Mon-
day afternoons get-together.
Marie Flynn, Norman Speir and
Jerry Collins provided the old
tyme music with Morgan Dalton
singing a solo number for the
sing-a-long.
Thirty residents having Sep-
tember birthdays were honoured
at a party in the Auditorium on
Wednesday afternoon sponsored
by the Dashwood Women's
Institute. The celebrants were
presented with gifts following the
program. Decorated cup cakes
and tea were served by the ladies
to about 200 residents and guests.

the program which included
piano and violin duets by Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Love, readings Mrs.
