returned home last week from a
nine day Battlefields Tour with
world war 1 veterans in Holland,
Belgium, and France, They also
had a six day tour of Scotland
visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow, and
Isle of Skye. It was much enjoyed
by Mr. & Mrs. Guenther,
Sharon Rader and Pill Bennett,
London, spent the weekend with
Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader.

Homemaking club "Canadian
Chefs" held their second meeting
at the home of their leader, Mrs.
Spencer Jeffery on Wednesday
after school, with twelve girls in
attendance.
Roll call was answered by
naming a Canadian Food used by
early settlers. The girls took
turns reading the heritage from
New France.
Chicken pot-pie, French style
Onion Soup and Croutons, were
made and sampled by all the
girls,

Mrs. Campbell Eyre commented
on the motto, "Nothing in life that
is worthy, is ever too hard to
achieve if you have the courage
to try it, and you have the faith to
believe". She closed with a poem.
The members will attend a
Dessert Euchre at Zurich on
September 30 and the fall rally
will be held in Brussels on
October 1. Mrs. J. Sinclair and
Mrs. V. Alderdice will be
delegates.
The quilt block for the Erland
Lee Homestead and the gift for the
London Area Convention were on
display as well as the new Kippen
East sign.
Mrs. J. Sinclair gave the report
on Agriculture. and Canadian
Industries and Mrs. G. Drum-
mond gave the Education and
Cultural Affairs report.
Courtesy remarks were given
by Mrs, D. Triebner, Mrs. E.
Whitehouse had a contest, Mrs.
Al Hoggarth was in charge of
lunch, Mrs. R. Kinsman chaired
the business and Mrs. E.
Whitehouse the program.

Rev. Don Beck preached on the
sermon topic "Incognito" for
the service of worship in Hensall
United Church Sunday morning.
The choir sang the anthem
"Great is thy faithfulness".
After the service, the choir
presented a wedding gift to
Wayne Payne and Iris Alexander
for their upcoming wedding this
Saturday. President Don Travers
presented the gift on behalf of the
choir and everyone offered best
wishes.
Zurich Fair
a big success
A holiday for public school
students in Huron County cut
down on the size of the Zurich
Fair parade Monday afternoon.
The number of youngsters
usually participating in an
organized school portion of the
parade was much less than usual.
The Zurich Citizens band
headed the parade which in-
cluded contestants in the Huron
Dairy Princess contest and
Zurich Queen Elizabeth Groot
and one of her princesses Shirley
Anne Hay.
In 4-H competitions, Marty
Becker showed the top beef calf
and was overall showman while
Mary Ellen Steckle displayed the
top dairy calf and was best
showman in her division.
The most points in the ladies
division including cooking,
sewing and embroidery went to
Lorraine Schwartzentruber of
Zurich.
Herb Klopp of Zurich and
Frank Falconer, Clinton were the
top winners in Angus and
Durham cattle, respectively.
Donald Dearing, Exeter swept
most of the prizes for sheep.
The baby contest winners were
Jason, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Prouty, Zurich; Carrie-Lynn,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Ken
Ducharme, Zurich; Connie,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David'
