games to none in the best-of-five

Never open the radiator cap
of an overheated engine! If
your car boils over, just pull
off the road and turn off igni-
tion. Open the hood if you can
do it without getting burned,
and let everything cool.
Of course you check pressure
of your tires regularly. But
how about the spare?
If you're replacing shock ab-
sorbers, be sure to replace
BOTH on one axle at the same
time. It's not safe to replace
just one.
If your engine misses at high
speed, gaps between dis-
tributor points may be too
wide. If engine misses only at
low speed, gap may be too
narrow.
The intake manifold is the pipe
that connects the carburetor to
the intake ports of the
cylinders.
Whether you know how everything
works under the hood or you just turn
the key and go • you'll like the smooth-
riding honey you buy at Lorry Snider
Motors.

Area stable has good year
Canada team
includes Doig
The golf season of 1974 is tur-
ning out to be the best ever in the
career of Icen Doig of Seaforth.
Doig who is well known in
Western Ontario for his golf and
hockey playing abilities was
named Tuesday to the Canadian
team which will compete in the
World Amateur Team cham-
pionships,
He will team up with Doug
Roxburgh of Vancouver; Pierre
Archambault, Brossard,
Quebec; and Bruce Brewer of
the Toronto area to represent
Canada in the Dominican
Republic from October 30 to
November 2.
It will be the first appearance
in International competition for
Doig. The highlights of his year
were his )Placing on the Ontario
Willingdon Cup team, finishing
third in the Ontario Amateur and
fourth in the Canadian Amateur
at Winnipeg,
In addition, he won a number
of tournaments in Western On-
tario,
Morrow, Mrs. Maxine Robson
and J, G. Morphew, all of the
Ilderton area..
The Huron Racing Stables with
headquarters just north of
Hensall is enjoying a good year in
thoroughbred racing.
Brian Smillie of Hensel'
operator of Smiling Acres Farms
is in partnership in the racing
stable with Dr. Paul Brady of
Seaforth.
in addition to having four
horses racing actively at the
moment Smillie has 17 mares in
foal in Kentucky and Canada.
He will be bringing the mares
back to the Hensall. based
operation within the next couple
of weeks.
Smillie is hopeful for a foal he
expects next March from a mare
called. Bold Chelan who is a niece
of Secretariat. Bold Chelan has
been bred to Riva Ridge,
Don Gaiser of Dashwood also
has about a dozen mares in foal.
Gaiser incidentally was in
Toronto at Woodbine last week to
accept the Yearling Sales Stakes
trophy as the breeder of the
winner of the race.
The winner was Sandpass, a
foal raised by Gaiser at his Dash-
wood area farm.
When Smillie said he had four
horses currently racing he was a
little careful in making that
statement. The Huron stables
have lost lost two runners this
summer through the claiming
route.
One of the best loved horses
from the Smillie barn was Huron
King who won the second race of
his career in .mid-July and was
claimed the same day,
While racing at seven furlongs
most of the time, Huron King was
put in at a mile and a sixteenth
for his second start by the new
owners Beaver Stables and won
paying a handsome $99 for a two
dollar wager.
The most recent win for Huron
Stables came Friday at Woodbine
when A Musical Formal won a
seven furlong allowance race.
going two-fifths of a second faster
than any horse that day at the
same distance.
A Musical Formal was claimed
by Smillie and his stable on July
18 for $10,000 and has earned
some $5,800 since.
Now racing on United Stales
tracks for the Huron group are
Windy Windkin, Middy's Choice
and Rebel Jane. The latter has "
two wins and a second in her last
three starts.
Another pride and joy of the
local stable was Mistagrandslam
who was recently claimed while
winning a $6,250 claiming event,
At last week's yearling sales in
Toronto, Smillie sold one yearling
