The Goderich Bluewater Band
played for a concert on the lawn
on Monday evening. The concert
was held on Monday rather than
the regular Thursday evening to
accommodate members of the
band, with all of the residents
taking advantage of the warm
evening to enjoy the music.
Eighty-five residents attended
the communion service for all
faiths in the chapel on Thursday
morning. Rev. Wittich of the
Blyth United Church was in
charge of the service assisted by
one of the elders of the church,
Howard Campbell. Mrs, Gordon
McClinchey sang two numbers
accompanied at the organ by
Mrs. Rena Watt.

Do you know that:
Canadians consume about 40
million pounds of honey per
year?
Most of the dark honey is used
in the bakery trade, in patent
medicines and in health shops?
That the color and flavor of
honey is determined by the type
of flower from which the bees
gather the nectar, and the darker
the honey the stronger the
flavor?
85 percent of the honey crop is
produced in western Canada -
Alberta alone produces nearly
half the crop?
Honey enhances the flavor and
keeping quality of most baked
goods. When used in place of
sugar, in many recipes, it
replaces the sugar cup for cup
but the liquid in the recipe should
be cut by one-quarter.
Here are two other types of
honey-flavored cakes.
Honey Upside Down Cake
1 4 cup butter
'2 cup honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 19-ounce can pears, drained
and sliced
1 tablespoon chopped marashino
cherries
Melt the butter in 8-inch square
pan and stir in honey and lemon
juice. Arrange fruit on mixture.
Batter
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
''z teaspoon salt
"4 teaspoon ginger
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1/3 cup butter
1 beaten egg
3 4 cup milk
Sift dry ingredients. Add lemon
rind, Cut in butter until mixture
resembles coarse bread crumbs.
Combine egg and milk, Add to
flour mixture and stir until
combined. Spread batter over
pears. Bake at 350 degrees F until
brown (35 to 40 minutes). Cool in
pan 5 minute. then turn onto

Honey Surprise Cake
Use two 9-inch white or spice
cake layers. Fill, glaze and hold
cake at room temperature one
hour before serving.
Filling
1 8-ounce package cream cheese,
softened
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup chopped raisins
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
Beat cheese until fluffy and
gradually beat in honey. Add
raisins and nuts. Fill cake.
Glaze
1 2 cup honey
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon orange rind
1 tablespoon orange juice
Combine ingredients. Bring to
boil. Stir and cook 3 to 5 minutes.
Pour warm glaze over filled
cake.
Weber reunion
in Dashwood
The annual reunion of the
Daniel Weber family was held
Sunday, August 25, 1974. They
gathered at the Dashwood
Community Centre. A good lunch
was enjoyed by all. A short
devotion was read by Thelma
Weber.
Chairman Ralph Weber con-
ducted the business during which
the minutes of last year were
read, also the financial
statement. Elections for next
year are: chairman, I. K. Weber;
secretary- treasurer, Thelma
Weber; sports, Bill Weber,
Ginger Love, Mr. & Mrs. Edward
Hern.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Horner then
led sports. Members present
came from Crediton, Dashwood,
Huron Park, Little Current,
London, St. Jacob's, Waterloo,
Zurich.
The 1975 reunion will be held
again at the Dashwood Com-
munity Centre.

Hamilton family
nineteenth reunion
The nineteenth reunion of the
Hamilton family met on Sunday
August 25th in Riverview Park,
Exeter.
After a bountiful dinner and
signing of the guest book the
officers for 1975 were elected.
Next year's reunion will take
place at same time and same
place.
President for 1975 is Mrs. Ted
Goddard; vice president, Frank
Elliott; Secretary-treasurer,
Mrs. A. Kemp; social conveners,
Bonnie Jean and Paul Miller.
Novelty prizes were given to
Wm. Sillery, Danny Elliott,
Hazel Sadler, Sandra Kemp,
Brenda Kemp.
The children enjoyed a candy
scramble.

at WMC meeting
The Pentecostal W.M.C.
meeting was held at Mrs.
Estrella Finkbeiner's with 14
ladies attending
The president, Mrs. Ruth
McLaren, opened the meeting
with the song, "We are women of
the Harvest". After this Mrs.
Kendrick offered a prayer.
- Mrs. Blanchard took the roll
call which was answered with
scripture verses on the theme of
"Harvest". Mrs. I. Desjardine
read a poem and moved that
money be sent to missionaries
who are on furlough in Canada,
Mrs. H. Eizenga read about
missionaries and their ex-
periences in foreign countries.
Mrs. H. Bodely gave a message
based on Job 23:10. The meeting
was closed with prayers,

Ottawa, Windsor and Goderich.
Crediton 4-H
All 4-II clubs, Crediton 1.5 will
be meeting in the Crediton Hall
on September 9 at 7 o'clock. It
will be an organizational
meeting. Girls must be 12 years
old by September 1 to par-
