Sunday, August 11, 1974 will
long be remembered by Mrs.
Mary McCarthy, when relatives,
friends and neighbours from far
and near came to celebrate her
eightieth birthday.
"Open House" was held at the
home of her son and daughter-in-
law, Mr. & Mrs. James
McCarthy. Over 100 guests were
received.
A plaque from the Province of
Ontario was presented to Mrs.
McCarthy by her nephew, Frank
Drea, MPP for Scarboro Centre
and assistant to the Minister of
Consumer & Commercial
Relations. The Honorable
William Stewart was also pre-
sent.
Guests attended from Toronto,
London, Waterloo, Richmond
Hill, Flint, Lucan, Granton and
Clandeboye.

yearly "School for Women".
The theme "For a Time Like
This" was carried through in
various ways from Sunday at 3
p,m. until the Benedictine Walk
and Communion at 3 p.m.
Wednesday, with several of the
staff going into residence Satur-
day at noon.
Mrs. A. Kilb of London, presi-
dent of Middlesex Presbyterial
U.C.W., was Dean of the school,
Rev. F. Faist of Stratford, Presi-
dent of London Conference was
the Theme Speaker with Rev.
Lorne O'Neill of St. Thomas
leading the 15.group chairmen, in
Bible Study.
Mrs, R, L. Spence wrote and
presented her own morning
Chapel services and evening
Vespers were highlights of the
school.
On Tuesday, 150 more women
shared in a one day school with
many of the programs being
given in capsule form.
In the afternoon a program
"Come to the Fair" was
presented with 12 different
programs in as many rooms,
available to all 315 women,
Youth stay at
Pentecostal camp
Several carloads of members
attended various services at the
Arthur Pentecostal Camp the
week of August 7 to 11, with some
of the youth group and Rev, &
Mrs. Ray Brewsterstaying over
the weekend.
The morning song service on
Sunday was led by Bill Cochrane
and Mr. & Mrs. David Lang (Lin-
da Currie) of the Vancouver
area, sang a duet. The infant
daughter of Mrs, Ruth Grider,
Freda ,Jane, was presented for

the Lions defeated Hardys to end
up in third spot. Playoffs now
begin this coming Thursday and
could prove to be very enter-
taining.
The final standings were:
Firemen; Walloy-Hearn; Lions;
Hardys;Biddulph Boys;
Langford Drive; I.G.A.; Legion.
Only the top six teams will com-
pete in the playoffs. The first
place Firemen take on fourth
place Hardys while Walloy-
Hearn take on the Biddulph Boys
and the Lions meet Langford
Drive in the other playoff series.

Revington reports that a cheque
for $1,005.00 has been forwarded
to the London office. This money
was raised by a Walkathon to
help send Bibles to the Sudan.
