Glorya McShane one of the ap-
prentices at the Playhouse plays
Morgan's daughter, Mary, who is
struckdown in the den of iniquity
and actually rises to heaven in
the second act.
Russell Scott, another ap-
prentice, does a fantastic job as
Sample Switchel, the country
bumpkin.
Rowdy songs, temperance
marchers and bar-room brawls
complete the melodrama with a
large cast and a lot of action.
Musical director is Erna Van
Daele of London and the overall
production is under the direction
of James Murphy,
Murphy adapted the play to the
Playhouse stage and cast while
maintaining the original William
Pratt script,
The Saturday evening per-
formance, the last of the season,
is already sold out and organizers
report that "TEN NIGHTS IN A
BAR-ROOM" may well be the
best attended play of the season,

"Ten Nights in a Bar-Room",
probably one of the best
productions at the Huron Country
Playhouse this year will be a,
fitting finale to their third season.
The play is a new musical
version of an old temperance
play, first produced in England
over a century ago.
This hilarious satire is a
melodrama depicting the evils of
drink in a small rural com-
munity.
What was perhaps serious
matter to playgoers of the 19th
century becomes a humorous
script, over-played and satirized.
Thom Hayes is excellent as
Harvey Green, the villain and
corruptor of youth. His facial
expressions and exaggerated
motions are worth watching.
Maurice Evans plays Simon
Slade, the ex-miller, turned
tavern keeper, out to make it rich
quick.
Alex Pearse, as Joe Morgan is
a desperate man almost
destroyed by "the demon rum".
