Lucan council is considering
the drafting of a bylaw to control
swimming pools in the village.
Reeve Ivan Hearn instructed
the clerk, Mrs, M. Gibson to get
information from other com-
munities that had swimming pool
bylaws.
Councillors discussed making
it mandatory to have building
permits for above and below
ground pools and to have the
building inspector inspect the site
when the pool is to be dug.
They agreed that pools should
be fenced before they are filled.
Councillor Larry Hotson
recommended a four foot fence
with no more than one and a half
inch mesh and a minimum size of
14 gauge.
He also brought up the problem
of people not observing the water
restriction bylaw by leaving
hoses running for days at a time.
Council agreed that after of-
fenders had been warned once,
the fines should be enforced.
It was decided that people
wishing to fill pools should first
receive the okay from the works
superintendent so he could figure
out the gallonage and charge for
the water used.
The major portion of the
council meeting was spent in
discussing tentative subdivision
agreements for the McNicol,
Hilldowntree and Wilberforce
heights subdivisions.
In other business, council
concurred with a resolution from
Orangeville council requesting
the province to exempt
municipalities from the Ontario
Sales Tax on all capital ex-
penditures. The Orangeville

all Ontario municipalities,
