WILLA HARDING Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hardie were the guests of honour at a surprise dinner celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. Their children Pat and Ruth treated their parents and im- mediate family to a dinner at the Garage Restaurant, London. On their return to London their daughter and family Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Cook hosted an open house and smorgasbord supper for all of the relatives. Between 50-60 attended including relatives from Michigan and Florida. Ryan Reunion Bad weather held off Sunday when families gathered together for the 5th Annual Ryan Reunion at Weldon Park, Arva. Mr, & Mrs, James Ryan and family and Mr. Ed Ryan attended from the Granton area. Pickering Reunion Mr. & Mrs. Jack Noon and family attended the 1st Pickering family reunion held at Mrs. Noon's , mothers home at Lakeside. About 50 people were in attendance 'and they hope to make this a yearly event. Hodgins on the piano played a piano quiz game which everyone enjoyed. The bride-to-be was assisted in opening her gifts by Frances Thomson, Sharlene Foster, and Marion Squires. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Mardlin, Ruth, Ferne and Allan left this weekend on the first week of their two week holiday. The first week they plan to tour the Thousand Islands and travel along the St. Lawrence River. They will be spending the second week ,at their summer trailer at Turnbull's Grove. Mr. & Mrs. William Ban- nerman and family travelled to Windsor and spent the weekend with relatives. Mrs. Ken Mulholland took off from London airport Saturday for Fredericton, New Brunswick. She will be spending a week with her daughter and husband Mr. & Mrs. Bruce White. Mr. & Mrs. Roy Gregory of Dundas visited one day last week with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Warren Gregory. Rona Hickey of Toronto is visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hodgins and family for a few days. Mn. & Mrs. Mark Gorth and family of Sarnia visited last week with the latter's mother Mrs. F. J. Crouch. Mrs. F, J, Crouch attended Centennial days at Ailsa Craig on the weekend. Mr. & Mrs. Richard Kloss, Mr. & Mrs. Steve Rooney and Mr. & Mrs. James Harding attended Friedsburg Days at Dashwood Saturday evening. Sunday dinner guests with Mrs. Ethel Squires were Mrs. Ann Millson, London; Mrs. Lettia Syers, Petrolia; Mrs. Pearl Passmore and Mrs. Rose Harris, Hensall; and Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Harlton of the village. Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Begg and grandson Danny of Cornwall holidayed, last week with their daughter andfarnily, Mr: & Mrs. Ron Mills. Mr. & Mrs. John Harlton are spending a couple of weeks up at their summer home near Lion's Head. Mr. & Mrs. William Pennington and daughter Jo-Anne; are on a two week motor trip out to the eastern provinces. Mr. & Mrs. Kelly O'Connor and family travelled out with them and while there will be staying at O'Con- nor's other home at Margaree Harbour, Nova Scotia. Mr. & Mrs. Burns Steven and Gregory of Burford visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hodgins and family. Mr. John Ridley of Exeter called on his cousin Carlton Ridley on Sunday afternoon. their annual sports day and barbecue at Cromarty Park on Saturday. The fir$t game was scheduled for 10:30 in the morning and saw Joyce Vivian's Pee Wee Girls lose to the Hurondale team 21-8. At noon Bob Templernan's Pee Wee Boys defeated Gordon Laing's by 27-3, This was followed by a game between Joy Ross and Joyce Miller's bantam girls with the Miller team winning by 18-9, About 3 o'clock a heavy rain stopped the play for awhile. Then, using the grass diamond, the beginner's game was played with Dean Elliott's team vice torious over Susan Harburn's, 25- 19, The bantam boys also played on the grass diamond with South Hibbert defeating North Hibbert 8-4. Pitching for South was Dave Kinsman while Terry Tern- pleman was on the mound for the opposing team. After some work had been done on the regular diamond, the senior girls played two innings of their game with Cromarty , defeating Staffa 12-3. During the supper hour, the Staffa Midgets played Blanshard who are the top team of the Bantam league. Blanshard earned 6 runs in the first inning. Then Brad Marsden took over pitching duties from Maurice Ruston and held them down to 3 more runs in the rest of the game. Home runs by David Laing and Brad Marsden helped Staffa to a total of 10 runs to take the game. The final game saw the local juvenile All-Stars lose out to Fullarton 2 runs to 4. Over 650 people sat down to a supper of barbecued pork chops, salads, cake and ice cream. A family gathering of the descendants of Robert Coleman was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Coleman on Sunday afternoon. Guests were present from Cromarty, Seaforth, Clinton, Zurich, Lon- don, Kitchener, Peterborough and Calgary. Rev. W. Jarvis was in charge of the joint United and Presbyterian church service at eleven-o'clock on Sunday. Next week Rev. Glenn Wright of Exeter United Church will* be the speaker. Mrs. John Jefferson, ac- companied by Mrs. Bruce Cleland and family of Listowel, visited recently with Mr. & Mrs. Sam Jefferson, Goderich and Mr. & Mrs. Bill Chessell, Varna. Mrs. John Rennie and baby daughter of Woodham are spending a few days with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Wallace. Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Coleman and Paul, Peterborough, are holidaying this week with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Coleman. Dennis Eves, Calgary returned home on Monday after visiting relatives in this community. Sherry Masur, Stratford, is spending a month with Kim Marsden while the two girls are attending a summer skating school in Ilderton. Mr. & Mrs, John Scott and Mr. & Mrs. Harry Norris have returned home after spending a month in England, Scotland, Switzerland, France, Austria and Germany.
