First rector guest speaker
at church 25th anniversary
GRAND BEND
Special services were held
Sunday morning in St. John's-by-
the-Lake Anglican Church when
they celebrated their 25th an-
niversary.
Guest speaker was their first
Rector, Rev. Cannon Gordon
Houghton of London. Special
music consisted of a solo by
Cheryl Ashisk accompanied by
herself on guitar. Organist for the
day was Joyce Pickering. Both
girls are residents at the Missing
Piece coffee house in Grand Bend
for the summer.
Other special music was
presented by the Rock family of
Nairn when they sang with two
guitars and banjo ac-
companiment. Flowers in the
sanctuary were given by the
congregation of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary Catholic church.
After the service coffee and
donuts were served in the Parish
Hall. At this time Rev. G.
Houghton and Rev. W. Mills were
presented with silver plates. A
gift was also presented to the
regular organist Mrs. Ross Love
of ,Dashwood,..Mr ..G,,,S,Todd of
Beach O'Pines prepared a 25
year history of the church in
booklet form for the members.
