CARMEL Thursday evening, relatives and friends attended a bridal shower held in the school gym for Margaret McCann, bride-elect of July 6 and daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. McCann. Margaret's relatives took part in a "Mock Wedding" and everyone enjoyed their skit. Mrs. Jane Gillespie, sister of the bride assisted in opening Margaret's many gifts which she plans to take to her new home in New Zealand later, A few well chosen words of sin- cere thanks were expressed by Margaret. The bride's aunts served lunch. Former Resident Dies Word was received last week of the death of Basil Gooding at Westminster Hospital, London, in his 57th year, after a lengthy illness. Basil was the son of the late John Gooding and Nettie McCarthy and was a student at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School previous to joining the Armed Forces. Persona Is Mr. & Mrs. Bernard Flanagan, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Ruggaber, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Rau, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Corriveau and their families and Sue Hartman, Zurich were weekend visitors with Mrs. Dorothy Hartman and Mr, & Mrs. Mike Hartman, Th __ z. The sympathy of this com- munity is extended to Mrs. Lawrence McCann in the sudden death of her brother, Gerard Sheehan, Toronto while visiting Noreen on the holiday Monday.
