Stephen school students present sow-hem rnyskol The Mississippi south came to .Huron County Thursday evening as students of Stephen Central Public School presented the musical "Tom Sawyer" to an alines( capacity audience, Don Finkbeiner, principal and director of the play said, "I think the kids really came across and it was a most appreciative audience". Grade eight students at Stephen Central have been working since mid-January, learning the music, auditioning for parts and making the scenery, The musical was a class production by room No, 1 rather than a choir production. "It was a new way of raising some funds for graduation, Finkbeiner said. The grade eight students wanted extra money to make their graduation a special event. Part of the riroceeds from the play will go towards getting .a speaker for the graduation dinner. The costumes for the show were made by the girls in the class. About 40 students were involved in the production, both on stage and behind the scenes, "Many people in the audience corinnented after the show that they were surprised that the boys contd sing as well as they did," Finkbeiner said. "We knew they mild do it but they have to be persuaded to show us." Despite long hours of rehearsal And preparation, the kids really enjoyed putting on the musical. "We are trying to get the young people more involved in drainatics," Finkbeiner said. The students learned a lot from the experience and had a lot of fun in the process, * 57 Flower Varieties * Geraniums * Hanging Baskets * Potted Plants Glad Bulbs * Rock Garden Plants WATCH FOR OUR LARGE SIGNS 1'/a MILE EAST OF SHIPKA ON COUNTY ROAD 4 (CREDITON ROAD) Open Daily 10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. FARMER BILL'S Greenhouses — Shipka Bill & Melva Rarnmeloo 237-3228 Dashwood What's Cooki \pr,Kt Money-Saving DEALS That's What!
