to Huron Health Board
The Huron County Health
Board was officially presented
with a Titmus Vision Tester by
the Rebekah Lodges of Huron
District No, 23 and the Ockifellow-
Lodges of Huron 'District No, $, at
the White Carnation in
Holmesville, May 22,
There were approximately 175
Oddfellows and Hebeitalts from.
Huron County in attendance. The
guest speaker was Dr. G, F.
Mills, Medical Officer of Health
for Huron County.
This vision tester has been used
by the Huron County Health Unit
since March 15 at its clinics
throughout the county, It can be
used to test the vision of all ages,
including pre-school children.
This vision tester will test for far-
sightedness; near-sightedness;
color-blindness, and ambliopia

disease of the eye that can only be,
cured if it is detected in pre-
school children, or before the age
of B. This is a project of the
Oldfellovv and Rebekah Lodges
of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of
the World.
it is hoped that parents of pre-
school children in Huron County
will bring their children 'to the
clinics, as ambliopia is .known to
be found in 1 out of 20 children
and cannot be cured after the age
of 8 or 9.

KINSMEN CONVENTION — Members of the Exeter and Hensall Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs attended the
District I Kinsmen Convention in Niagara Falls, May 17-20. It was announced that the 83 Clubs in District I
had donated $101,194.86 to Cystic Fibrosis Research over the past 3 years.Accepting the cheques on behalf
of the C.F. Foundation are Kevin and Andrea Taylor, Scarborough with Clark Pepper, C. F. Chairman for

ODDFELLOWS DONATE — The Huron District of the Oddfellows and
Rebekah's Lodges presented an eye testing machine to the Huron Coun-
ty Health Unit last week in Holmesville. The machine, worth $500 was
presented to Bob Gibson, left, president of the Health board, by deputy
president Mary Grigg and Oddfellows committee chairman Murray
Taylor. Funds for the machine were raised by clubs in Clinton,
Goderich, Wingham, Exeter, Hensall, Brussels, Brucefield and

In accordance with the Revised Weed Control
Act, 1972, Section 4, 14 and 20 and amendments
thereto, that unless noxious weeds growing on
their lands are destroyed by June 15, 1974 and
throughout the season, the Municipality may
enter upon the said lands and have the weeds
destroyed, charging the costst against the land
in taxes, as set out in the Act.

A service of celebration
marking the 126th anniversary of
Hensall United Church took place
Sunday morning. Rev. Don Beck
preached a sermon on the topic
"Christian Fellowship".
The McMillan family, Don,
Shirley, Ernie, Eleanor and
Elilabejh from Goderich en-
tertained by playing their
musical instruments, Mrs. Art
Henwood accompanied the
family on the organ.
The choir sang the anthem "I
was glad when they said unto
me" with Harry Horton and
Mary Goodwin taking solo parts.
June 2 will be the Sacrament of
the Lord's Supper, Confirmation
and the welcoming of members
from other churches. For this
service Sunday School sessions
have been cancelled but will
resume again June 9.

ship service in Carmel
Presbyterian church on Sunday
at 11:30 a.m. when Mr. Edgar
Cudmore gave an interesting
message. Mr. Harry Hoffman of
Dashwood contributed vocal
solos, accompanied at the organ
by the organist Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall.
Anniversary services will be
observed June 2 at 11 a.m. con-
ducted by Rev, W. Newman of
Shakespeare. There will be
special music by the choir and
guest soloist, under the direction
of the organist Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall.

Church, Kippen met on May 14 at
the home of Mrs. Ken McLellan,

Kippen area. Corn planting is
now in progress.

James MacAllister
dies in Galt
James Edison MacAllister,
Galt, retired Professional
Engineer with Babcock and
Wilcox of Canada Limited,
passed away at Galt, Thursday,
May 16, 1974.
He was the son of the late
Charles MacAllister and Hannah
Sproat, husband of Dorothy
Andrews and father of Mrs. J.
(Dorothy) Buhr of Kitchener.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. E.
F. (Maud) Brooks, Toronto, and
granddaughter, Karen.
Private family services were
held on Saturday morning from
Littles Funeral Home, Galt-
Cambridge with interment in
Trinity Cemetery.
