Olive Tebbutt, Exeter at the Hopper-Hockey Funeral home, Saturday, A large number attended the 4- H Achievement Day at the Exeter High School, Saturday, A number from this community attended the Lodge Church Service held in Exeter, Sunday, The April meeting of the Elirnville' UM was held Wed- nesday evening. Mrs.. Ross Skinner and Mrs. Harold Ker- slake were in charge of the program. Miss Ruth Skinner read the scripture and Mrs. Ross Skinner gave the story "A Woman's Job", The Bible study on "Women of the Bible" was given by Mrs. Jackson Woods. Mrs. Kerslake gave a reading on "Planting and Reaping" a quiz on "Women of the Bible" was given by Mrs. Skinner, Mrs. E. Lynn conducted the business. A card of thanks was read from Jackson Woods and it was moved to send Mrs. Dan Coward to Westminster Weekend. Pupils of grade 7 and 8 and teachers of Grand Bend Public School, held a. Progressive euchre party and a POtth auction to raise money for class field education trips for the school. There were eight tables of euchre and three of bridge. Winners were Ladies high, Mrs, John reeving; ladies low, Mrs, Michael Previ; men's Gerald Merner; rnens low, C. Armbruster; most lone hands, Gerald Merner. Door pr4e won by Mrs. Pearl Hooper, Orpha Club The Orpha club held their April meeting at the Village Inn Retreat in the form. of a Pot luck supper with 27 in attendance,. All the articles were on display which the club has made for the Sarnia Children's Aid, Court Whist was played and, winners were: high, Mrs. Arthur Lee; second high, Mrs. Roy Flear; low, Mrs. Ada Wilson; two lucky chairs, Mrs. Lawrence Curts and Mrs. Richard Taylor; birthday closest date, Mrs. Susie Devine; oldest lady, Mrs. Etta Baker; youngest lady, Mrs. Stuart Pole. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Johnson visited a few days last week with their daughter and family, Mr. & Mrs. Don McArthur of Pt. Elgin and Mr. & Mrs. Duncan McVittie and Robin of Southampton. Mr. Allan Hayter and Mr. Norman Hodgins returned from a week's visit to England. Mrs. S. M. Barbour of Toronto is visiting with her sister and family Mr. & Mrs. Clarke Ken- nedy. Mrs. Carol Tagel of Baltimore Maryland, Mrs. Alice Backman and Mrs. Kathryn Tagel both of Detroit spent the weekend with Mrs. Leroy Bariteau. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Johnson attended the wedding of their niece Bonnie Johnson of Tavistock to Victor Contreras of Guatameld Saturday afternoon at Shakespeare Presbyterian church and later the reception at the Stratford Coliseum.
