Everyone deserves the opportunity
to get the best possible education.
This is what Ontario is doing
to see that you get your chance.
The government here in Ontario
believes that no one should ever be
deprived of a higher education simply
for lack of money. And, we're doing
something about it ... through the
Ontario Student Assistance Program
(OSAP).
OSAP Consists of government-
financed loans and grants designed to
help qualified Canadian citizens and
landed immigrants pay for their higher
education. And they are based on
need, not on academic achievement.
The loans are interest-free until 6
months after graduation, and repay-
ments don't begin until then. The
grants don't normally have to be
repaid at all.
Already, 2 out of 5 students at
Ontario universities and community
colleges receive some form of
financial assistance from OSAP.
If you would like to know what
assistance is available, how to apply
for it, and how much you may be
qualified to receive, contact the
Student Awards Officer at the
institution of your choice.

conducted the election of officers.
A discussion was held on
changing the structure of the
hockey group by appointing
directors. This was turned over to
the executive tomake recOnl-
mendations for the next meeting,
It was also suggested that a.
ladies' .auxiliary be formed of
interested mothers. This is. done
in several communities.
At the meeting, the executive
agreed to purchase individual
trophies for the house league
champs of the past season. These
will be presented at the annual

Plans were announced at die

portunity to play inter-town
hockey.
Volunteers for coaching and
managerial staff are now being
sought. •
The annual meeting approved a
request from the atom and novice

The Ontario Hockey
Association voted over-
whelmingly on Saturday to
support a move asking the
Canadian Association to increase
the eligibility age of. junior
players to 21.
Junior players at present
graduate at age 20.
Attending the meeting from
this area were Jim Freeman and
Clare Stanley of the Lucan Irish
and Fred Mommersteeg and Bill
Batten of the Exeter Hawks.
The motion to increase the age
to 21 was passed by a 98 to 27
margin.
Frank Doherty, OHA
president, said the proposed
amendment May have difficulty
getting approval from the CAHA
because of agreements with the
NHL and WHL.
This prompted one delegate to
suggest the OHA withdraw if the
change in age is not approved.
Hugh McLean, London, named
vice-president at the meeting,
said if the CAHA turns down the
proposal, the OHA should con-
sider giving Ontario teams their
wishes.
CAHA president Jack Devine
said there was little chance the
amendment would be approved
this year.
The area representatives at-
tended the Junior "D" category
meeting in the morning at the
Royal York Hotel in Toronto
when a bid to have franchises
established was defeated.
.The Ingersoll Junior "C" team
had suggested that franchises be
established for "C" and "D"
teams with a price of $1,000 pins a
performance bond of $1,000.
Members felt this would deter
future entries and would even-
tually "kill" junior hockey at
these two levels.
The performance bonds for
teams was established at $200,
rather than the present $100,
The meeting learned that four
teams are presently seeking
entry into the "D" division, one of
them being Seaforth and another
Port Stanley,
During the past year, four
players participating on OHA
teams lost an eye in hockey ac-
cidents, Benefits for the players
are available from the OHA:
