Pell's home Tuesday. The past club, "Taking a Look at Yourself", has been very worthwhile, educational and lots of fun.. Many thanks to the Kippen East WoMen's Institute for sponsor ing the club and especially to our leaders, Mrs. J. Bell and Mrs. L. Finlayson for all of their time and effort. The fall project, "The Club Girl Entertains", has a bright outlook and members will be 'welcomed. Personals Mrs. Margaret Hutchison, St. Thomas, visited Mr. and Mrs. W. L, Mellis. Mrs. Dave Moyer, Parry Sound, is visiting her father Robert Thomson. Mrs. Ed McBride has returned from a visit with her daughter Mrs, Steve Pine in Sault Ste Marie. Mr. Rochtts Faber has returned from Florida. reading and Mrs. Charles Eyre gave courtesy remarks. Proceeds from the Silent Auction were donated to Bunny Bundle. Life membership certificates and pins were presented to. Mrs. Charles Eyre and Mrs. Wm. Bell. UCW Entertain The UCW of St. Andrews Church, Kippen entertained about 70 guests from Varna, Bayfield, Hensall, Egmondville, Seaforth and Brucefield, April 17. Mrs. David Turner, president, opened the meeting with a poem, "A Women's Conversation with God." Mrs. Paul Packman took charge of the worship, the theme of which was "Prayer". The offering was taken by Mrs. Keith Love and Mrs. Bill Char- ters and was dedicated by the president. Mrs. Agnes Bray, Exeter, favoured with musical numbers on the organ and also played the piano during the social half hour. Mrs. Lloyd Cooper introduced the guest speaker Jane Davidson whose topic centred around her experiences in India with her family. She showed interesting Mrs, Hugh Parsons; Sunshine, Mrs. von, Bell; sewing, Mrs.. Alex mccregnr; pianist, Mrs. R, Broadfoot; assistant. pianist, Mrs. Sinclair; auditors, Mrs. S. Pepper, Mrs. Charles Eyre. The reports indicated that the Institute had 'educational, interesting and humorous meetings. Demon- strations, films, guest speakers and skits were highlights, The members enjoyed a tour of Goderich museum, a bus trip to Niagara area, family night and..a fun night. Donations were made to save the Sight, Pennies for Friendship, Erland Lee Fund, South Huron and District Association for the Mentally Retarded, Hurnnview Van Fund, War Memorial Children's Hospital, Canadian Cancer, Canadian Mental Health, Children's Aid and Bunny Bundle. The District Annual will be held in Zurich on May 16 and the bus trip on June 20. Mrs. R. Broadfoot contributed several musical numbers and Mrs. Alderdice showed slides of the hi-lites of 1973-74. WILLIAM ROHDE About 40 people attended a surprise bridal shower Sunday for Judith Cann, bride-elect of June, at the home of Mrs. Reg Hodgert and Brenda. They were assisted by Mrs. Ross Hodgert and Diane and Laurel Hodgert. Contests were enjoyed. Joanne Hodgert read the ad- dress and after opening the gifts, Judith said a few words of thanks. Laurel Hodgert read a poem and presented Judith with a bride's scrapbook. Guests were present from Toronto, Owen Sound, London, Grand Bend, Seaforth, Mitchell, Exeter and this community. Personals Several persons from this community attended the Beef Producers banquet Thursday evening at Kirkton Woodham Community Centre, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Jeffery, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Stone and Mr, & Mrs. William Rohde spent Saturday evening with Mrs. Myrtle Passmore, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Ross Cottle were guests at the Consitt-Campbell wedding at Hensall Saturday. Several from this community attended the reception and dance Saturday evening at the Hensall arena. Mrs. Warren Brock, Exeter was guest Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Miller. The May meeting of the United Church Women will be held Monday evening at the Adult Rehabilitation Centre, Dash- wood. All members are asked to be at the church at 7:45 p.m. Earl Sharpe has returned after being a patient for three weeks in Strathroy General Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Lewis , Brampton and Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Smith, Forest visited Mr. & Mrs. Sam Zavitz, Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Wilson, 4th concession, and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Wilson and family, Dorchester, visited, Good Friday with Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Pulsifer and boys at Dorchester. Ernie Wight accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Graham MacDonald, London on Sunday when they visited Mr. & Mrs. Harry Fountain, Plymouth, Mich. Mr. & Mrs. Ed Logan, Elora visited over the weekend with her sister and brother-in-law Mr. & Mrs. George Willsie at Port Frank. Mr. & Mrs. Stan O'Farrell, London spent the weekend at their home at Port Franks. Their daughters and sons-in-law of Hamilton and London visited with them. Notice to GRAND BEND PROPERTY OWNERS Destroy Weeds Notice is hereby given to all persons in possession of land, in accordance with the weed control act, 1972, section 4, #11, 14, and 20, an amendment thereto, that unless noxious weeds grow- ing on their land within the municipality of the Village of Grand Bend are destroyed by the date of June 15, 1974 and throughout the season, the municipality may enter upon the said land and have the weeds destroyed, charging the cost against the land and taxes, as set out in the act.
