his licence suspended for three
months after pleading guilty to
impaired driving.
He was stopped on March 30

driving and a breathalizer test
showed a reading of 240 mgs.,
three times higher than the legal
limit.
McKee requested a restricted
licence suspension and this was
granted by Judge Hays.
A fine of $100 was levied
against Brian P. Corriveau,

careless driving. His car was
demolished when it went out of

A fine of $200 was levied
against Randall Gerard Bedard
after he pleaded guilty to a
charge of careless driving in
Exeter court, Tuesday.
Judge Glenn Hays presided at
the court session and levied the
fine against the Zurich man.
Bedard was charged after the
car he was driving went out of
control on George St. in Exeter on
October 30. Evidence revealed
the accused had been driving
very fast prior to the accident.
The vehicle flipped over and
total damage was set at $2,500.
The vehicle was owned by Ken
Smale, Hensall.

The Summer Student
Placement office at the Canada
Manpower Centre in Goderich
was officially opened on April 1,
1974. At that date there was a
total of 378 secondary, and post
secondary students registered,,
who were looking for summer
employment.
The bulk of the registering took
place when Miss Helen O'Neil,
the student area coordinator
and Gary Walden. the Summer
Student counsellor in Goderich
visited the area high schools.
Mr. Lawton, the guidance
counsellor at South Huron
District High School, in Exeter
set up and arranged a very
successful day for both the
students and the Canada Man-
power Centre counsellors.
In all, over 160 students were
registered at the high schools.
Now, Mr. Walden says, the big
job has started, that is, trying to
get employers to contact either
the Canada Manpower Centre
office in Goderich or Huron Park,
to hire these students. The
students are eager for work and
1
willing to accept. almost
anything.
However, the response from
the employers has been
somewhat slow. Mr. Walden is
hoping that a planned program
"Hire a Student Week" in June
will generate some activity and
result in some job openings. Mr.
Walden is continually making
personnel calls on employers and
in most cases the job response
from this has been good, but he is
unable to call on every employer
in the area.
It is to these employers that he
asks that they call him, and use
the free service, set up by
the government, to help fill
summer job vacancies. In nearly
all cases of student employment,
the employer has been com-
pletely satisfied. Not only has it
resulted in more money for him,
hut it has also given him more
leisure time during the summer.
