Crediton WI elects slate

' The April meeting of the
Women's Institute was held
Wednesday evening in the
community hall. During the
business session it was decided to •
have a lesson on health as part of
every meeting.
The sum of $5.00 a year was
voted toward the Maryn Pardy
Scholarship. This scholarship,
$100 a year for higher education
costs, is available to daughters of
Women's Institute members,
Mrs. Gerald Dearing, Mrs.
Cliff Kenney, Mrs. Bruce Shapton
and Mrs. Don Davey were ap-
pointed delegates to the District
Annual Convention in Zurich May
16.
The nominating committee
presented the slate of officers for
the coming year. President is

president, Mrs. Gerald Dearing;
secretary, Mrs. Harvey Hodgins;

thanks to retiring president Mrs.
Walter Weber and presented to
her a gift in appreciation.

Mrs. Earl Neil, Mrs. Davey, Mrs.
Gordon Morlock.
Decorate Store
Members of the Crediton and
District Men's Club spent their
evenings last week redecorating
the interior of the Bushfield
General Store, a warmhearted
gesture of concern for the widow
of one of their members.
Return from Holland
Mr. & Mrs. Tony Martens and
their family have returned from
a flight to Holland where they
attended the 50th wedding an-
niversary celebration of Mrs.
Marten's parents, and visited Mr.
Marten's mother and other
relatives. Lawns were green 'in
Holland and tulips in bloom. The
return flight was marred by the
Airport Firemen strike when the
Martens were required to
deplane at Ottawa and proceed to
Toronto by bus.
