PHONE 235-1933 EXETER Tuckersmith taxes are down Public School supporters in Tuckersmith Township will pay $77 on each $1,000 of assessment, and separate school supporters will pay $81.40 this year. That represents a drop of $2,40 for public school supporters and $2.60 for separate school sup- porters. The tax rate was presented to Tuckersmith township council Clandeboye dance will assist sports problem to Queen's Park in Toronto seeking some provincial help in establishing a corn- mercial park at Vanastra - the same as has been done in Huron Park, also a former Canadian Forces Base. The secondary school rate rose .8 mills to 16 mills for farm and residential and 1 mill to 18 mills for commercial and business. The Huron Perth County Roman Catholic Separate school elementary rates remained the same as last year, 25.4 mills for farm and residential and 28,3 mills for commercial and business. Council set the following rates: Brucefield street lights 3 mills; Egmondville street lights 7 mills; Kippen street lights 10 mills, Vanastra street lights, 7 mills. For Vanastra community centre board, a rate .of 12 mills was set while Vanastra water and sewage rates are 54 mills for property in the residential and 28 mills in the commercial area. For garbage pick up a rate of $23 was set for each householder at Vanastra. In other business, council awarded a tender for garbage pickup, at Vanastra to Bud Chamney of Auburn for $68 per week this was one of 7 tenders received by council. Garbage is to be disposed of in the Holmesville land site. Robert Nicholson Construction Co. of Sebringville was awarded the tender for the construction of the Big Drain for $12,740 for the open section and Gerber Drainage of Millbank for $7,560 far the closed section of the drain. feVred Ginn of Vanastra, one of the owners, was present at the meeting to complain about the fact he has been paying, and will have to continue paying, sewage and water charges on buildings at Vanastra that have not been in use since he took over the former Canadian Forces Base. "Surely there is some fair way of us getting relief from paying sewage and water for buildings where we don't even turn a tap or flush a toilet." Reeve Elgin Thompson said, "we are in sympathy with you". James Macintosh, clerk- treasurer said, "water meters would be, the answer at Vanastra but they are not available at this time". Dave Kestle received word Tuesday of the sudden passing of his aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Rinshed, Romulus, Mich, Mrs. Rinshed was the former Elizabeth (Hall) Bertie, sister of the late Emily Kestle and David Hall of Detroit.
