commence at 2:00 a.m., Sunday proclamation for Police Week from, a Canada Manpower official 2 to 8 designated as "Hire a
April 28, which commences May 12, to co-operate in an advertising Student Week."
Exeter council will attempt to
have a right-of-way off Pryde
Boulevard better defined so
students will use it rather than
crossing private lawns.
The pathway is located near
the home of Laverne McCarter.
Deptity-Reeve Helen Jermyn
said tbe main problem was the
fact children didn't respect other
peoples' properties, and walked
across the nearest lawn to get to
the school property.
Other council members noted
that students show the same
disregard for lawns in other
areas of town as well.

Exeter's new recreation
director, Jim McKinlay, still
doesn't have office ac-
commodation, but the property
committee hopes to rectify that
situation before he commences
duties on May 1.
Reeve Derry Boyle suggested
the "sitting room" in the fire hall
could be used for a time, adding
that Fire Chief Gary Middleton
indicated he had no objection to
the suggestion.
Dressing rooms at the arena
were also suggested.
The committee will also con-
sider a request from Bluewater
Cable to use the former fire
department facilities in the town
hall as a "studio" for local cable
casts if their application is ap-
proved for cable TV service to
Exeter, Centralia and Huron
Park,
Reeve Boyle said the company
officials "feel confident" of
getting approval for the licence
and he suggested the fire hall be
considered as a studio for them.

Ben Hoogenboom wondered
why the traffic lights approved
for Huron and Main haven't been
installed as yet and was advised
that material shortages are
probably causing the delay.
The traffic lights were ap-
proved some time ago by the
ministry of transportation and
communications and works
superintendent Glen Kells said
ministry officials had been here
recently to review the situation
and order materials.

Hoogenboom also reported a
couple of elderly citizens had
approached him about the need
for a mail-drop box in the south
part of town.
"Tell them to write Trudeau,
we don't look after that," Mayor
Jack Delbridge.brupkly replied.
"I'll: tell them' that's what you
said,' Hoogenboom • replied.
Deputy-Reeve Helen Jermyn
suggested Hoogenboom discuss
the matter with post master
Harvey Pfaff. :3, •
Other members noted there
was a mail drop at Wellington
and Main.

Lorne Haugh, who purchased
local property about three years
ago in a tax sale arranged by the
town, still hasn't received his
deed for the property.
He paid $350 for the property
near the CNR tracks south of
Huron St., but the town hasn't
provided the deed.
Clerk Eric Carscadden said the
matter was turned over to the
town's solicitor two years ago.

Nearly 100 people were served
at the U.C.W. supper last Friday
evening. Don Waters, Parkhill,
who recently returned from a
vacation in Spain showed his
pictures of that country and also
of Gibraltar and the coast line of
Northern Africa.
Unlike Canada, Spain has
almost every available piece of
land under cultivation including
mountain slopes.
Don found that the northern
part has a much greater acreage
suitable for production, than has
the southern part, and machinery
used is similar to that which we
employ here,
