CENTRALIA
Village firemen worked
through pouring rain Wednesday
night of last week to extinguish
the barn fire on the property of
Mr. & Mrs. S. Molnar. The
building, used for storing lawn
and garden equipment, burst into
flames after being struck by
lightning. There was extensive
damage.
Centralia UCW
The Easter meeting of Cen-
tralia UCW was held Thursday
evening with 15 ladies present.
Mrs. Bob Blair, Mrs. Charlie
Rollings, Mrs. Lloyd Morgan
were in charge of devotions.
Mrs. Blair opened with the
poem, Consider the Lilies. Mrs.
Lloyd Morgan read the scripture
and Mrs. Charlie Rollings gave a
reading on how Easter is
celebrated in other lands,
Mrs, Russel Wilson sang an
Easter song and Mrs. Ken Greb
gave a paper on Easter Thoughts.
Mrs. Rollings and Mrs. Blair
acted out a skit on a visit to the
hospital followed by a suitable
poem, But Not today. Mrs.
Rollings conducted an Easter
quiz.
Mrs. Wm. Essery conducted
the business when reports were
read. Mrs. Alvin Tabb and Mrs,
Kenneth Hodgins reported on the
Huron Perth Presbyterial in
Mitchell and Mrs. Ross McFalls
on the visit to Women's Mission
Service House in London. The
fashion show for April 24 was
discussed.
Easter hot cross buns and jams
were served by the lunch com-
mittee.
Personals
Good Friday service for the
Centralia-Zion pastoral charge
will be held in the Centralia
United Church Friday evening.
Mrs. V. Overholt and Pauline,
Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gibson at-
tended the Minderlein-Moffat
wedding held Saturday afternoon
at St. Peters R.C. church.

held. their April meeting at the
home of Mr. & Mrs. Ecfliendrick,
Mrs. Nelson Lamper1; Mrs.
Ross Krueger, Mrs. William Sch-
wartz and Mrs. Lloyd Hey were
in charge of the program.
By poems, readings, Scripture
and hymns the theme "The Good
News of the Resurrection" was
developed.
Ella Morlock, vice president
took charge of the business
session. Members answered the
roll call with a verse on the
resurrection. It was voted to put
the kitchen committee in charge
of conducting a `bakeless bake
sale'. Mrs. Hendrick reported the
used stamps had been mailed
to the Leprosy Mission. Mrs. Don
Haines donated a plastic fern to
be used in the Sunday School
rooms.
Hostesses were Mrs. Cliff
Kenney, Mrs. Ed Hendrick, Mrs.
Gordon Finkbeiner.
Four carloads of UCW mem-
bers went to Zurich Thursday
evening to share in the UCW
service at Zurich United Church.
The Explorers are knitting
mittens and caps to prepare a
bale for a mission hospital in
British Columbia.

from Robinson United Church,
London, and Mary Lou Fritz from
Zurich United Church were
welcomed into membership by
letter of transfer.
Flowers in the chancel were
from the funeral service of

home of Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred
Huxtable.
Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel,
Mr. & Mrs. Don Hirtzel, and girls
of Parkhill were Sunday visitors
Kitchener, Mr. & Mrs. Murray
Walden of Kincardine, Mr. &
Mrs. Jack Mackenzie of Lucknow
were guests with Mrs. Lorne

remained for a couple of days.

Brainalea and Elaine Powe of St.
Catharines attended the funeral
in. Exeter, Saturday of their
grandmother the late Mrs.
Herman Powe and were visitors
for the weekend at the home of
their parents, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer

and Sunday visitors were Mrs.
Dorothy Gallagher of Welland,

Exeter. It was a birthday party
for one year old Heather Hirtzel.
Mr. & Mrs. Ray Shoebottom
were entertained by their family
at the Garage in London Sunday
in honour of their 30th
wedding anniversary and were
guests afterwards at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Jolla Thomas in
Belmont. It was a dual
celebration as Mr. & Mrs.
Thomas were observing their
seventh wedding anniversary.
Mary Lou Tasko was accepted
into the membership of the
United Church of Canada at a
reception service conducted by
the Rev. John Beaton during the
Sunday morning service,
