plan back to engineer Henry
Uderstadt, Orangeville for
further study and will ask him to
attend a special meeting on April
16 to consider the plan again with
the accessed owners of the
disputed area.
Council spent a long time
discussing the control of dogs in
the township. With a new bylaw
passed at the last meeting,
council find themselves in the
position of not receiving ap-
plications for the job of an animal
control officer to enforce the
bylaws.
Jack Cooper, Vanastra, at-
tended the meeting to inquire
about the duties required for the
job. He was told that it would be
necessary to visit each home
during the month of May to
collect the dog tax from those
owning a dog and anyone
refusing to pay the tax would be
charged under the bylaw.
He was told that the rest of the
year he would be expected to
enforce the bylaw by periodic
visits, to problem area
especially, and to answer
complaints. ,
Mr. Cooper said his work would
prevent him from giving suf-
ficient time to the job but would
discuss the duties with another
man whom he believed would be
interested.

"The present owners are

needed for Olympic training
provided an adequate contract
arrangement is set up," Mr.

McKinley said.
He recalled that Prime
Minister Trudeau had promised
that in the closing of forces bases
in less developed areas, federal
assistance in providing ' other
uses would be considered.
"The area I am speaking about
is just such a slow-growth area
which was greatly affected by the
closure of the Canadian Forces

Huron MP Robert McKinley
received little encouragement
from the department of health
and welfare Tuesday when he
renewed his campaign to create
an Olympic training camp at the
former forces base at Clinton.
Norman Cafik, parliamentary
secretary to the minister of
health and welfare, told him:
"I would like to point out that
the feasibility of permanent sites
for the moment is unlikely
because of the difficulty of
assembling athletes in any one
site for any length of time and the„
adaptability of such sites to
facilitate the conditions for any
Olympic program of some 20
sports."
He added the decision will be
made by officials of Game Plan
'76 which consists of the
Canadian Olympic Association,
the Olympic Trust, Sport Canada
and some of the provinces.
Mr. McKinley said he had sent
letters to Game Plan '76
associates pressing his argument
for the use of Clinton facilities
and was not ready to give up.
The former base has a 20,000-
square foot gymnasium, a
swimming pool with adequate
changing rooms, an artificial ice
arena with year-round facilities,
a curling rink, an indoor and
outdoor rifle range, an eight-lane
bowling alley, a reasonable
amount of housing for families,
500 rooms available for ac-
commodation and two up-to-date
mess halls at which about 200 can
be fed at one sitting in each.
It is within 10 miles of excellent
