Dashwood has still not been determined, Ron Merner, who w as holidaying in Puerto Rico when the fire levelled the abattoir and retail store just north Of the village on March 19, said he still hadn't detailed the loss totals. Mr. Merner said he was presently tearing down the structure and "hope to rebuild" in the same location.. He said some of the floors may be salvaged, but the remainder of the building, in- cluding the block walls, would have to be removed. The firm is still carrying on with orders for custom slaughtering and processing, as well as retail meat sales. They have opened up the store they formerly occupied on the main street in Dashwood. "It's business as usual," the pOlaasinhewdood businessman ex- He added the comment that he was overwhelmed at the response given by area residents in assisting at the fire and after, "They responded fan- tastically," he noted, adding that it confirmed his faith in people from rural areas.
