Jets come alive
With their hopes for the
championship trophy of the
Ontario Hockey Association
Continental Senior in jeopardy,
Sunday night, the Jets came alive
and wasted little time in shoWing
the London Kings they meant
business,
The Jets took a 3-0 lead in the
first 10 minutes of play and were
never seriously threatened by
London,
They took advantage of their
first power play opportunity with
less than two minutes gone in the
game. From a face-off deep in
London territory, Bill Fairbairn
flipped the puck over to Doug
Galloway who in turn hit
defenceman Jim Pinnegar with a
pass and the puck was in the net.
In less than a minute and a half
near the midway point in the
initial period, Dick Doughty and
Rick Fifield hit the mark and the
Jets were in front 3-0. Jack Nairn
assisted on both scores.
Before the first period ended
Pete Loveless scored for the Jets
with passing help from Bill
Fairbairn and Jim Pinnegar and
Jim Walker replied for London.
The second period belonged to
the Jets as they scored three
times without a reply from the
Kings. Jamie Robb scored twice
and Jack Nairn added one.
Robb's second goal came as the
result of a dash the length of the
ice and a slap shot from just
inside the London blue-line. ;
Jim Walker of London sand-
wiched a goal between two by the
Jets to complete his club's
scoring in the third period.
The first Jet marker was fired
by Jeff Craig and it was his first
playoff goal in senior company.
Jack Nairn assisted,
With a minute to go in the game
Jamie Robb broke loose while his
club was killing a penalty and
