Fellows held their regular
meeting March 21 with Noble
Grand Bro. Roy pepper in the
Parkhill invitation
for Amber lodge
Noble Grand Mrs, Aldeen
Volland presided for the meeting
of Amber Rebekah Lodge
Wednesday evening, assisted by
Mrs. Ruby Bell P.N.G.
Mrs. Mary Gregg DDP of
Clinton will make her official
visit to the Lodge on April 17. An
invitation was accepted from
Parkhill Lodge for April 2, to
assist in the closing of Lodge.
Cars will be leaving the Lodge
Hall at 7 p.m.
The District meeting will be
held at Clinton Lodge April 10
when representatives will attend.
Mrs. Volland reported for the
visiting committee.
Following the meeting a
progressive euchre party was
held with seven tables playing.
Ladies high prize was won by
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley; ladies'
consolation, Mrs. Grace Peck;
gent's high prize, Glenn Bell;
gent's consolation, Roy Pepper;
lone hands, Mrs. Roy Pepper.
A draw followed and the
winners were Mrs. Cecil Pepper
and Mrs. Wilson of Exeter.

William Fairbairn is a patient in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mr. & Mrs. Brian Collins,
Kitchener, visited recently with
the latter's mother, Mrs. Laird
Mickle.
Cindy Parker and Pat
Rowcliffe returned home after a
pleasant visit with Const, Doug
Wein, R.C.M.P., Mrs. Wein and
David in Whitby.
Mrs. Laird, , Mickle received
word Monday that her son.and his
wife, Dr. and Mrs. Robert
Mickle, London, returned late
Sunday evening from an eight
day vacation in Greece, and also
that Charles Mickle, Hamilton,
returned Sunday from a weeks
vacation spent at Cozumel, off
the coast of Yucatan, Mexico.
Mrs. Rick Grenier of Zurich
has accepted employment in the
office of W.G. Thompson and
Sons Ltd.
United Church Notes
Rev. Don Beck preached on the
sermon topic Our Faith for the
Lent IV service in Hensall United
Church Sunday morning. Under
the direction of Mrs. Turkheim,
the choir sang the anthem, The
Lord's my Shepherd.
Flowers in the church from the
funeral of the late Mrs. Nancy
Kyle were placed there by her
family,
4-H girls discuss
bedroom storage
The 4-H Glamour Girls met at
the home of Linda Mock Tuesday
evening. For the roll call the
members gave an aid which
would improve storage in their
bedrooms. Discussion was held
regarding the skit for
Achievement Day.
Lisa Stretton, Donna Jean
Allan and Vicki Baker tried a dry
facial mask on their skin and Rita
Gloor, Julie Mock and Brenda
Pepper used lemon on their
faces.

Jewels for .50 years .Lodge service

welcomed from Wingham,
Clinton, Seaforth,Brucefield, and
Exeter lodges making an at-
tendance in excess of 75.
Fifty year jewels were
presented to Bros Archie Par-
sons, William Parsons and
Stanley Love by District Deputy
Grand Master Bro. Alex Meikle
of Exeter Lodge assisted by Past
District Deputy Grand Masters
Earl Campbell and Norman
Jones who are both in excess of 50
years members of Hensall Lodge.
Bro. William Parsons was
unable to attend due to illness and
his son Bro. Robert 'Parsons
accepted his jewel, Very fitting
remarks were expressed by the
three recipients.
Seaforth Lodge then proceeded
to confer the third degree on
three new members from
Seaforth and one from Exeter
making it a most memorable
evening in Oddfellowship.
After the usual congratulatory
remarks the lodge closed and the
brethren assembled in the lower
hall for a delicious hot beef
sandwich served by Mrs. Emma
Campbell, Mrs, Olga Chipehase
and Mrs, Leila Hay.
Draws were made for two hams
and were won by P.D.D.G.M.
Harry Gerry, Wingham and Bro.
Wilmer Broadfoot, Seaforth,
P.D.D.G.M, Bro Allan Campbell
of Seaforth voted a hearty vote of
thanks to the ladies completing a
most enjoyable evening in
friendship and brotherly love,
ODDFELLOWS GET JEWELS — Three members of the Hensall Lodge
223 of the Independent Order of Oddfellows received 50 year Jewels
Thursday night. In the above picture from the left are District Deputy
Grand Master of District 8 Alex Meikle of Exeter and Past DDGM's Earl
Campbell and Norman Jones of Hensall who made the presentations to
Bro. Archie Parsons, Bro. Stanley Love and Bro. Robert Parsons who
accepted the jewel for his father Bro. William Parsons.

Hensall lady passes
away in 90th year
Mrs. Nancy Kyle (former
Kipfer) died at South Huron
Hospital March 20, 1974 in her
90th year.
Surviving are three sons, David
of Hensall; Russell, St.
Catharines; Roy, Timmins, two
daughters Mrs. Arnold (Bell)
Merner, Zurich; Mrs.C. L.
(Dorothy) Tuckey, London. She
was a sister of Mrs. Ella
Desjardine, of Exeter,
Also surviving are 15 grand-
children and 24 great grand-
children. Mrs. Kyle was
predeceased by her husband Tom
September 5, 1973 and by her son
Byron on May 7, 1972.
The funeral was at the Bon-
thron Funeral Chapel Hensall
when Funeral service was Friday
with Rev. Donald Beck of-
ficiating. Interment was in
Exeter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Kyle,
Donald Kyle, Doug Kyle , Steve
Kyle; James Tuckey and Larry
Merner.
Flower bearers were George
Steele and Tony Kyle.
Popular hymns
for Presbyterians
Rev. Wilfred Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church Sunday, which was a
service of song of many popular
hymns. It was led by Jim Love on
the electric guitar with Mrs.
Malcolm Dougall accompanying
at the organ.
Rev. Jarvis spoke on the
subject "To Live and to Die."
The regular meeting of St.
Pauls ACW was held Thursday
afternoon at the home of Mrs. F.
Forrest. The president Mrs. G. A.
Anderson opened the meeting
with prayer and Helen Roberts
read the meditation,
The roll call was answered with
a Bible verse having the word
gem or jewel in it.
The St. Patricks Day tea and
bake sale held at the Church was
reported successful.
Devotions from the living
message were read by each of the
members present. Rev. Anderson
closed the meeting with prayer,
Chiselhurst U.C.W. hold pot -
luck, entertain at Queensway
Former resident
dies at Kingston
Bruce Baker, son of the late
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Baker, passed
away on Thursday March 21 in
Kingston. He joined the army in
the Second World War and would
have retired in June of this year.
Surviving besides his wife,
Bridget, are three daughters,
Bridget in Germany, Wanda and
Shirly Ann, Kingston; one son
Gordon in Halifax.
Also surviving are five sisters,
Mrs. Adam (Wanda) Wilson
Brucefield; Mrs. Alphonse
(Betty) Grenier, Dashwood;
Mrs. Wm. (Clara) Brown,
Egmondville; Mrs. Bruce
(Irene) Tyndall, Clinton; and
Mrs. Grant (Gladys) McGregor
Kippen, and seven brothers,
Glenn, London; Meade, Win-
throp; Austin, Stratford; Robert,
John, William and Murray of
Hensall.
The members of the family all
l'attended the funeral in Kingston,
Monday.
members have been visiting
every Monday and entertaining
the patients at the Queensway
Nursing Home. It was decided to
donate $10 to Bunny Bundle.
The study was taken by Loretta
Riley, telling of the effect that the
United Church has had in other
countries during the past cen-
tury.
Dorothy Brintnell read poems
entitled Little Questions and
Spring. The April meeting
schedule was reviewed.
The March meeting of the
Chiselhurst UCW was held
Tuesday afternoon in the form of
a pot luck dinner following an all
days quilting, which was the final
"quilting session for the season.
President Erla Coleman
presided for the meeting. The
worship was taken by Ruth
Brock, "Where does Time go?"
The treasures report
was given by Dorothy Brintnell.
The roll call was answered by
thirteen members by "What
Sunday School you attended?"
The answers varied from
Burgessville, Cromarty, Strat-
ford and Staffa. A report was
given on the Huron-Perth

trouble .

home of Mrs. C. Christie, a sister

Wm Dodds, Seaforth. Mrs. Eric
Richter, Mrs. Watson's twin
sister and her husband of Kit-
chener were unable to attend
because of illness. Mr. Watson's
sister, Miss Bella Watson of Galt
also attended the happy event.
Mr. & Mrs. Watson were the
recipients of flowers and gifts.
