"The Floating Pulpit"was the
sermon theme taken by Rev.
Edwart Madden on Sunday
morning, when he told the
congregation that Jesus used
whatever was at hand to bring
"grace" into the lives of people,
in this instance it was Peter who
received much blessing when he
was told that he would become a
"fisher of men." It was this same
Peter who spoke out at Pentecost

Royal Oak hosted the Lucan Pee-
Wees to a return exhibition
series. The Pee-Wees, bolstered
by Atom's Jamie Shipley and
Dave Egan, looked sharp in their
first game, beating the host team
by a 9-1 decision.
Bob Hodgins and Martin Duenk
led the Lucan attack with three
goal performances while Ron
Glenn added two and Jamie
Shipley got the single marker.
The Lucan lads were promised a
more evenly matched game the
next day when they met an "A"
team and this proved to be the
case when early in the second
period Lucan was trailing by a
score of 2-0 in what promised to
be a very good game.
However, the referees let every
infraction in the book pass and
soon the game turned into what
looked like a twelve man tag
team event. Unable to control the
game by that time, the referees
made their only good call of the
day and ended the game. It was a
sour note to end what had been a
very enjoyable weekend.
Lucan bantams defeated
Dorchester 11-3 in the opening
game of a round robin series.
Kyle Pederson and Rick
Freeman each scored three goals
to lead thw Lucan team. Single

behind 2-0 but regained their
composure in the second period
to tie the Sunsets 2-2. Paul Wraith

supplying two goals and singles
going to Jim Hayter and Martin

Monday back in Lucan, the pee

Leprechauns with only two
seconds remaining in regulation
time to send the game into
overtime.
Cec Nickles put the Lucan club
into a 1-0 lead in the first period
and then Mildmay took over and
scored four straight goals.

and cut the deficit to one goal as

the stage for Crane's last second
marker.

unanswered goals in the extra 10
minute period,

By SID DALEY
My goodness how time does
fly. Here we are approaching
election time again. At our March
general meeting a nominating
committee was appointed to
come up with a suggested slate of
Officers to run your Legion af-
fairs for the next term.
Of course this does not in
anyway prevent a regular paid
up member from nominating any
regular or life member for office.
The nominating Committee will
be presenting their list at the
April genera] meeting, at the
same meeting nominations will
be opened so that you, the regular
or life member, may nominate
the Comrades of your choice.
The purpose of a nominating
committee is to make sure there
are enough comrades willing to
stand for office and fill all vacant
chairs. This is a very important
period for your local Legion
branch. Don't wait until the last
moment, think now as to whom
you think are best qualified to
look after your interests in
Legion.
This is your opportunity to get
rid of the 'clique'. If you don't do
your bit, by attending the

It's actually quite simple.
All you do is accumulate fifteen
demerit points and lose your
licence for thirty days, Do it again
and lose your licence for six
months.
In this province, it definitely pays
a driver to score a big fat zero.
Ontario's demerit point system is
designed to convince the poor
driver to drive properly. Drivers
who do not improve are then
taken from the road because
they're a'menace.to pedestrians
and to other drivers,
But the system is not at all unjust.
It's aimed at telling the driver
where he's gone wrong and
giving him plenty of time to cor-
rect his faults.
For instance. When you've
accumulated six points, you'll be
notified and urged to improve
your driving.
When you've got nine, you'll prob-
ably be asked to attend a private
interview and re-do your driving
test.
At fifteen points, you'll lose your
licence for thirty days and drop
back to seven points. Oet fifteen
again and you Won't drive for
six months,
nowever, your record won't be
