The commercial rate will be down one mill to 24 mills because of the per capita grant and the amount of the commercial assessment. The total levy will raise $92,273.52 compared to the total taxes last year amounting to $92,056.22. Total assessment in the township is $4,536,100. Clerk James McIntosh said the township residents will not know the total amount of tax they will have to pay until Huron County Council and the school boards have set their rates. Among the expenditures council will have to make this year are $21,500 for general government, $9,500 for fire protection, $ 4,500 for street lighting, $163,000 for roadways and $21,500 for drainage (tile), $6,300 for garbage collection and disposal, $32,000 for waterworks and $32,00(rfo? 'sanitary; iys tem. Mr. McIntosh was instructed to prepare a by-law to license dogs in the township and later will advertise for a dog control officer to enforce the by-law. I didn't know what to expect when Start proceedings to acquire land Exeter's solicitor has been asked to commence proceedings to acquire the necessary land to permit the extension of Alexander St. The street runs parallel to Highway 83 east, just south of the industries in that area. Mayor Jack Delbridge ex- pressed the opinion that the town should not have to pay for the lands to be acquired. Councillor Ben Hoogenboom agreed, noting the road would benefit the land owners in the area. "They're probably anxious to see the road completed," he said.
