Crossing purposes for the Village
of Lucan. The reason of making
Mr. Mcintosh a "Special Con-
stable" is to empower him to stop
traffic.
This will be done at his own
discretion as he has been in-
structed to wait for a break in the
traffic before leaving the curb.
Mr. McIntosh will use the whistle
system similar to what is used by
Crossing Guards in the City of
London.
This is simply a matter of
keeping the children on the curb
until he reaches the centre of the
road. The first blast of the whistle
is to attract their attention, and
have them ready and the second
blast of the whistle indicates they
are to cross.
New white lines have been
painted on the Main Street to
facilitate the crossing area.
These lines are located 300 feet
south of the south entrance of the

By SID DALEY
Well, I'm back folks, not from
any vacation, mind you, but from
sick leave. January seems to be
my bad month so I am very
seriously considering cancelling
it from my calendar and just
having an eleven month year.
Many thanks to my many friends
and readers who showed concern,
I certainly appreciated it.
Things have certainly been on
the move around the old watering
hole. I note that a work party has
been busy over the past weekend
and has painted both entrances -
a marked improvement - many
thanks.
A few dates to remember
Vedriesday February, 13 Will be
the second meeting of the year
and the date of our January
cheque draw for $100.00 - the
absolute deadline for entering
this contest will be January 31st,
Therefore we urge all sellers to
get their results in to the chair-
man just as soon as possible - for
those people that already. have
theirs purchased let me advise
The Draw is on - and the first
winner will be advised im-
mediately following the
February general meeting.
Incidentally all ticket holders will
be advised each month as to the
name of the winners.
Saturday, February 16, the
People's Choice will again be
visiting the Lucan Legion - this is
great entertainment and is put on
for your enjoyment.
Say, is the Tuesday Night Mixed
Sports ever going over big! 540
congratulates those two
stalwarts Li'l Len Fisher and Roy
Scott for the tremendous job they
are doing.
Sunday, February 17, 540 will
be holding' their 5th annual
children snow vehicle party, but
more about this when we get the
times straightened out,
And for the biggy listen to this -
on February 22, 23 and 24 Branch
540 will sponsor its first annual
Atom hockey tournament, the
chairman advises we already
,, have 27 teams entered so we are
going to require a lot of volunteer
help and billets for the
youngsters. If you are interested
in helping the Legion in this
project please leave your name
with either Carl Stuckless or Len
Fisher by phoning 227-4751.
Not only do these youngsters
have to be fed, and we pretty well
have this laid on, they are going
to require billeting - there it is
folks, we are hoping that the
citizens of Lucan will get behind
this worthy program and open
their homes ,and hearts to these
young hockey players.
And that's 30 for this week -
remember a true diplomat is a
man who can convince his wife
she looks too stout in a mink coat.
