FRED BORDEN CENTRAL IA A large group of young people took part in the youth service in the United Church Sunday morning. The service which drew favourable comments gave the young people an opportunity to express their ideas in both song and speech and in the presen- tation of skits. Annual meeting The annual congregational meeting of Centralia United Church was held in the school room of the church following the morning service and was preceded by a pot luck lunch. There were about 30 in at- tendance. Mrs. W.R. Essery was ap- pointed secretary and Rev. Beaton presided. The church reports, Sunday School report and reports of the various church organizations showed a successful year. The renovation of the choir loft, the new storage cupboard for Sunday School supplies and 'the completion of the lights in the schoolroom were among the church improvements. Several items of business came under discussion. Mr. Stephen Molnar was made an honorary member of the session and added to the remaining list of session members are W.R. Essery, Mrs. Robert Blair and Mrs. Chas Rollings. Appointed to the board of stewards were Harvey Rollings, Tom Somerville, and Mrs. Ray Shoebottom as recording steward, Mrs. Alvin Lobb was appointed as alternate presbytery representative. The board of trustees will remain the same, Two Sunday school teachers offered to approach Kenneth Hodgins and ask him to recon- sider his resignation as senior Sunday School superintendent. Mary Shoebottom and Marikay Hodgins will be the organists, replacing Mrs. Hodgins who resigned. Mrs. Russell Wilson will be the choir leader. Rev. Beaton was extended an invitation to remain for another year and was thanked for his efforts on our behalf for the past year. CGIT The CGIT meeting was opened with the hymn and pur-• pose, Mary Lou and Nancy Tindall led in the worship ser- vice.
