minor hockey teams injured in
weekend exhibition games with

satisfactory recovery.
Jeff Fuller of the Legion
Auxiliary pee wees was taken to
South Huron hospital Saturday
afternoon suffering a back injury
when he fell to the ice after being
checked.
Jeff was released from hospital
Sunday morning and was back at
school Monday. He is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fuller Exeter,
The other casualty, Brian
Penhale, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Emmerson Penhale, Woodham
spent two nights in South Huron
hospital.
Brian suffered a slight con-
cussion while playing with the
Exeter Kinsmen midgets Sunday
afternoon. He was released from
hospital Tuesday and is expected
to be back in school in a couple of
days.

Plan benefits
for eye victim
A Shipka area young man who
lost an eye as the result of a
hockey accident several weeks
ago has returned to his home
from a London hospital.
Wayne Desjardine, a member
of the Shipka team was struck in
the face by a skate during an
Ausable Ree league game at the
Exeter arena.
Several functions have been
planned for DesJardine's benefit.
League president Colin Brewer
has arranged for a dance to be
held at the Parkhill Community
Centre, March 15, with Roger
Quick supplying the music.
His Shipka team-mates have
.arranged a stag and president
,Brewer said "the league. and all

tributions.
With two victories this week,
Lieury has moved back into first
place in the Ausable Rec hockey
league with a season total of 33
points. Brinsley is in second spot
only one point back and, Parkhill
is in third spot with 23 points.
The pointless Shipka club is in the
basement.
In games this week, Lieury
edged Parkhill 3-2 Tuesday and
Brinsley downed Shipka 3-1 while
Sunday ,Parkhill edged 13rinsley
8-6 and Lieury outscored Shipka
8-3.
Dave Hill scored three times to
lead the Parkhill scoring in their

9-5 in Ilderton, Wednesday.
The Jets in second place only

week ahead of them. To-night,
Thursday, they are in London to
meet the Kings, Friday night
they travel to Stratford and
Sunday night they will be at home
to the London Kings with game
time slated for 7.30 p.m.
Sunday's win in Reno was not
assured until the 19,50 mark of
the third period when Rick
Fifield scored into the empty
Aces net.

Exeter's minor clubs gained
five of six possible points in a
Shamrock league tripleheader at
the Exeter arena, Wednesday
night against teams from
Strathroy,
1n the opening game of the
night, the two pee wee clubs
battled to a 4-4 tie, The Exeter
bantams scored a 7-2 decision
over Strathroy in the middle
contest and Exeter won the
midget game by a score of 3-2.
A goal by Preston Dearing with
only 21 seconds remaining in the
third period allowed the Exeter
Legion Auxiliary pee wees to gain
the 4-4 tie with Strathroy.
Dearing was the scoring star
for the locals as he fired all four
successful shots. He scored the
only two goals of the first period.
Danny Bell assisted on both goals
while Dave Bogart picked up a
single assist,
Strathroy scored two unan-
swered markers in the second
period to tie the score at 2-2.
Dearing put the Exeter club
ahead briefly early in the final
session completing a three-way
passing effort with Brian Mercer
and David Atthill.
The visitors were able to score
twice midway through the period
to go in front until Dearing
completed his four goal scoring
performance on a pass from Bell.
The first period was only 45
seconds old when the Exeter
bantams started their scoring
with Brian Horrell converting a
pass from Ron Bilcke,
The Exeter lead went to 2-0 late
in the same period when Brian
Clarke registered with help from
Derek Regier and Ron Bilcke.
Strathroy was able to tie the
score with two goals, the second
coming early in the middle frame
but then the Exeter boys took
over and walked away with the
victory.

blanked the Exeter "B" club 5-0
and St. Marys downed Exeter 4-1
in a bantam "B" contest.
Robert Willert scored four
times to pace the Zurich atom
scoring attack, The other goals
was notched by Jim Willert.
' The only Exeter goal in the
bantam loss to St. Marys was
shot by Allan Jensen.
