"Ah," sighed Santa, "times
have changed, oh yes, they have
changed."
"Christopher Columbus was
never a good boy was he?", Mrs.
Claus asked.
"Gosh no! Never did. I even see
such a disobedient child,"
bellowed Santa. What abobt
Bobby R. Jr.?" asked Mrs. Claus.
"Yes," replied Santa, "He
won't get any toys this year.
"The toys are ready Santa,"
reported the Chief elf.
"All right," said Santa, "But
gosh times have changed,"
At 12:00 p.m. Santa returned
from his trip and sat down to his
Christmas dinner, There was
turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed
potatoes, peas and corn and all
sorts of candies. Soon Mrs. Claus
arrived in the dining room.
Every year it takes you longer
with your trip," Mrs. Claus said.
"Yes, and every year your
cooking gets better," said Santa
and helped himself to a drum-
stick.

What does Christmas mean to
me?
Let me think and you will see,
When I see the snow covered
ground,
That's when all my ideas are
found.
Decorated Christmas trees.
People praying on their knees.
Eating all the turkey dinner
When your finished your not
thinner
Now as you can plainly see
This is what Christmas means to
me.

Christmas is a "Happy Time"
But sometimes it can be a crime
Sister might bring in some snow
From the outside sunny glow
All these troubles are very
common
But they're not ruled by any
lawman
So sit when you sit down to dine
Christmas is a "Happy Time."

THE REAL CHRISTmAS. POEM
By.M9NAHoopINS
Stephen Central
Long long ago,
On a dark warm night,
Shone in the East,
A star that was so bright
Wise men and sheperds
followed the star
They traveled days and nights
because it was so far.
When they came to Bethlehem,
The star shone bright over a
shed,
It gave a wonder to these men
to see that a shed was a king's
bed.
The wise men gave him
diamonds and jewels,
also in the stables were some
lambs and a mule,
The people of Bethlehem got out
of their beds
to see the great King that lay in
the shed.
I have told you the story of the
real Christmas Day
It isn't receiving and giving
away,
It's the great Christmas spirit
that lies In us all,
to think that our king was born in
a stall.

WHO CARES?
By ALICE BROWN
SCS
Can you imagine your house
without Christmas displays, or
tables empty from the lack of
food, even, children without
many toys?
Well, believe it or not, things
are this way in some or most
homes. Many people realize this
and won't do anything. They have
lots of food, clothing, toys and lots
of other things, also, above all
they can celebrate Christmas.
"Why should they care," many
people say. Yet there are other
people who would do anything to
help.
All the world needs is more
people who care. Again, imagine
yourself as someone without
many of the important things in
life.
THINK ABOUT IT!
MR. PRESENT'S CHRISTMAS
By BRIAN RADER
Rm. 2 SCS
Hi! My name is Mr. Present. I
am one of Santa's presents along
with the others in his big red sack
which is in his sleigh.
Tonight he is going to deliver
me to some little boy. Oh! Here
he comes. You can hear him say
Ho! Ho! Ho!. Away we go as
Santa says on Dasher on Dancer
on Prancer, Vincent, on Comet on
Cupid on Donner on Blitzon and
Rudolph too.
We went down the chimney and
I was placed under a nice little
Christmas tree just waiting for
the little boy to open me up, I
think I'll take a nap. Oh! here
comes the boy and his mother
and father.
His name is Billy. He is opening
me up. He is very happy that I am
a new toy tractor. How glad I am
that he likes me.
WHERE WOULD THE WORLD.
BE .WIT.HoUTQL.P$T,NICK?-
By DENISE MANSELL
Grade 6
Exeter P.S.
Where would the world be
without old St. Nick?
Christmas just would'nt be fun,
Children would cry and clocks
wouldn't tick,
If Santa stopped making his run!
In Australia and France and
Japan,
All little young ones would sob,
And just picture this if you can,
Rudolph would be out of a job!
Christmas morn would be so dull
and dreary,
Just one more old day in the
week,
Spirits just wouldn't be cheery,
The whole world would be up mud
creek!
So when Xmas arrives, please be
thoughtful,
Don't be a Scrooch or a Grinch,
Stockings will never be not full,
For Santa, Gift giving's a cinch!
On Christmas Eve if you leave a
treat,
On a table right out in plain sight,
And something for Rudolph to
eat,
Your sure to get presents that
night!
A LONG AGO
CHRISTMAS
By RUTH MORGRET
Grade 7 SCS
Two lonely, travellers wan-
dered down the dusty road. A
huddle of buildings loomed ahead
of them. As they approached,
they noticed people sleeping in
the streets and others chatting
around warm fires. The couple
headed toward an inn.
The young man knocked on the
door. Behind the wooden door a
gruff voice explained hastily that
there was no room. Joseph
walked quietly away. Door after
door was knocked, but the answer
was always the same.
Finally the couple came to a
slightly run-down inn on the edge
of town.
"Sir my wife is in labour. Do
you have a room?" the young
man asked.
"I'm sorry there's no room
here except for the stable." the
host added with a twinkle in his
eye.
After a short conversation with
his wife, Mary, Joseph said the
stable would have to do. The
stable boy was summoned to take
them to it.
As Mary lay down on the floor,
she began thinking back. The
angel Gabriel's coming, Joseph's
dream he had told her, about,
their marrige, and now she lay in
a Bethlehem stable about ready
to have a baby boy.
Three hours later a cry broke
out. Mary, quite out of breath,
looked at her first baby, a boy
named Jesus. A slow, weak
smile spread across her face.
"My son, My Lord," she
whispered and then fell asleep.
HUMOUR
By DICK DOUGALL
Grade 8 UCS
When my brother was small he
went to bed on Christmas Eve
and he was so excited that he
could hardly get to sleep. He was
so anxious that he woke up in the
middle of the night.
Not wanting to waken Mom he
very quietly tiptoed down stairs.
He was just about to open a
present when he heard the
snowplow roar past.
He was so frightened that he
raced upstairs and jumped into
bed waking everybody up saying
"Santa's on the roof, Santa's on
the roof!"
