About 90 people sat down to the
noon luncheon which was
sponsored by the Marian Ritchie
Evening Auxiliary Wednesday.
The guests were welcomed by the
president, Mrs. Larry Gardiner,
Mrs, Ruth Turner, Thamesford
and her two assistants prepared
the meal of chicken pieces, Rice-
a-Roni peas, and lettuce salad,
with angel cake and whipped
topping for dessert.
Prior to the main course,
several appetizers including
yogurt, sour cream dip, Paris
Pate, cheddar cheese and clam
chowder, were served buffet
style. Following the meal, Mrs.
Turner spoke briefly and

of Montreal's Exeter Branch is an-
nounced by John C. Gourlay,
District Manager, Georgian Bay
Area. Mr. Knowles succeeds Jack
Irvin who is retiring after 45 years
`of distinguished service with the
Bank.
Mr. Knowles has had extensive
banking experience, including a
previous term in Exeter where he
has many personal and business
associations. He returns to Exeter
from being Manager of the Bank
of Montreal's Amherstburg
Branch.

several days with Mrs, Arthur
Simpson.
The ACW of St. James' Church,
had the booth at the Lynn sale
and they report business was
brisk. They also had the booth at
the Carter sale.
Mrs. C. Vogels, Miss C. Hardy,
Mrs. G, Lee, Mrs. O'Neil and
Mrs. D. Kestle, 4-H club leaders
of this district were in Toronto
Monday and Tuesday enjoying
the Royal. Winter Fair courtesy of

While Rev. Madden attended
the Remembrance Day Service
in Lucan, his wife took the ser-
vice at Clandeboye United
Church. Brenda Scott rendered a
solo.

Frank Allen spent Saturday at
the Royal Winter Fair and visited
in Toronto with his sister, Janet
Allen.
Mrs, Arthur Douglas,
Thamesford, is spending this
week with her son, Charles
Douglas, and his family.
Kenneth Walker left Wed-
nesday to travel by train to
Vancouver. From there he will
go by boat to Australia where he
plans to look for employment.
Mr. & Mrs. C. Douglas and
family visited Sunday with Mr. &
Mrs. James Little, Thamesford.
Dianne Sararas, Hensall, spent
the weekend with Nancy Allen.
There was a good attendance at
the dance sponsored by Cromarty
Senior Girls' ball team Friday in
Kirkton-Woodham Community
Centre. Music was provided by
the Country Cavaliers.
One clever lady keeps her hat
and coat draped across a jiving
room chair all the time.
"It's for unexpected visitors,"
she explained. "When someone I
don't care for drops in, I point to
the hat'and coat and say, "What a
shame. I'm just on my way out.'.
But if it's someone I enjoy seeing,
I can say, "How lucky. Igot home
just in time,'"

About 70 ladies and girls at-
tended the bridal shower for
Beverley Passmore, bride-elect
of December.
To the strains of "Here Comes
The Bride" played by Mrs.
William Rohde, Beverley was
escorted to a decorated chair by
Darlene Passmore.
A guitar and vocal solo number
was presented by Marlene
Glanville. Mrs. Myrtle Passmore
read a humorous address and
Diane Hodgert and Shiela
Duncan carried in the many gifts.
A sheet of paper was passed
around for the people to put
adjectives down. When it was
finished Mrs. David Passmore
filled in the blanks in her reading
with the adjectives.
A hill-billy mock wedding was
put on with the following taking
part: bride, Mrs. Glenn Rohde;
groom, Mrs. David Passmore;
father of the bride, Mrs. Myrtle
Passmore; bridesmaid, Mrs.
Barry Robinson; best man,
Darlene Passmore; minister,
Mrs. Bill Rohde.

The first, meeting ..of ,Hurondale
I was held at the home of Mrs.
Glen Lamport. This homemaking
club is called "A World of Food In
Canada" and the ten members
are calling themselves the
"Global Gourmets".
The officers for this club are:
president, Barbara Miller; vice-
president, Elaine Stewart,
secretary, Brenda Hodgert;
treasurer, Sylvia Stewart.
Blueberry Buckle was
demonstrated and sampled by
the members. Leaders Mrs. Glen
Lamport and Mrs. Edwin Miller
discussed requirements for the
club and the topics fop each
meeting.
The third meeting of Hurondale
I was held at the home of Mrs.
Glen Lamport.
During the business
Achievement Day was discussed.
Then, Donna, Elaine and Sandra
Stewart demonstrated making
Welsh Rabbit. It is a delicious
cheese batter on toast and can be
eaten either hot or cold.
