In a very evenly played atom
game Cowans BP and Lankamp's
Esso tied at one goal each.
Robert Watson scored the lone
goal for 13P and Brad Scott was
the marksman for Esso.
More goals were scored in the
second game as Conklin Lumber
defeated Don Taylor Motors 8-2.
Trevor Boyle proved to be the
scoring star for Conklin with the
"hat trick" followed by Allan
Gaiser with two goals, Single
goals were by Sean Reid, Kevin
Glasgow and Danny Galloway,
Scott Batten and Bill Simmons
each scored a goal for Taylor
Motors.
The No, 2 pee wee and bantam

The Hawks tied their game
Lambeth Flyers coach Flynn
Reaume and manager Bob
Nelson were happy when their
club scored a goal with only 20
seconds to go Friday night to gain
a 3-3 tie with the Exeter Hawks at
the Exeter arena.
Their good moods didn't last
too long. They were the last of the
visiting contingent to leave the
arena. When they arrived outside
the team bus was nowhere in
sight.
By this time, the happy Flyers
were headed south on No. 4 High-
way. A quick call to the Lucan
arena was made and the bus
intercepted.
It was nearly 1 a.m. when
Reaume and Nelson were
reunited with their team and a
second start from Exeter to
Lambeth was made.
The night for Lambeth was a
rough one from start to finish,
The team bus arrived in Exeter a
few minutes late due to the
slippery road conditions.
By the end of the second period,
the Hawks had moved into a 3-1
lead. Goals in the first and last
minute of the final session gave
the Flyers a tie and a single point
in the league standings.
Each team was able to score a
single goal in the first period. Ken
Voijin was the Lambeth
marksman while Gerald Weido
scored for the Hawks on a three-
way effort with Harry Smits and
Randy Gilfillan.
The Hawks moved out in front
in the second frame on goals by
Pete Gill and Rick Ingram.
Assists were provided by John
Mommersteeg, Matt Muller and
Wayne Regier.
The Hawks were nailed for 13 of
the 22 penalties called by referees
Bob Brownlee and John Slota of
St. Thomas. Bill Inch handled the
goal tending chores far the
Hawks.

The Lucan-Ilderton Jets used
two wins this week to move into
undisputed possession of first
place in the Ontario Hockey
Association Continental Senior
league.
Thursday night in St. Thomas,
the Jets edged the London Kings
5.3 and Sunday afternoon on
home ice at the Ilderton arena
had little trouble in disposing of
the Preston Jesters 8-3.
The Jets have a season total of
nine points on four wins, a tie and
a loss. The Stratford Perths and
Durham Huskies are tied for
second place with eight points
apiece.
Friday night the Jets will be at
home to the Stratford Perths in a
very important 8,30 contest and
Sunday afternoon they travel to
New Hamburg for an
engagement with the Screaming
Eagles.
In Sunday's win over Presttin,
the Jets wasted little time in
getting on the scoreboard
although the visitors tied the
score at 2-2 before the end of the
initial period.
Rick Fifield, the Jets leading
scorer put the puck behind Dan
Carroll in the Preston net before
two minutes of play had elapsed.
Jamie Robb and Jacques
Cousineau drew assists.
A wicked slap shot from the
stick of defenceman Barry
Baynham found the visiting net
at 15:21 on a play set up by
playing coach Jack Nairn.
Jim Martz and Dave May were
the opening period Preston
sharpshooters.
The second period belonged
completely to the Jets as they
scored the only two goals.
Cousineau nabbed the first at the
18 second mark with help from
Robb and Fifield While Jamie
Robb rifled in the second on a
slap shot. Carroll got a piece of
the puck but was unable to
prevent it from dribbling into the
net. ,
The third period saw, the L-I
club take a commanding lead
with four goals as compared to
one by the opposition.
Pete Loveless scored twice in
the final session and Rick Fifield
notched a single goal to tie for
pal scoring honours
The final L-I marker came on a
power play with Nairn converting
passes from Robb and Fifield.
Lorne Daer went the distance
in goal for the Jets and turned
away 30 shots by the Jesters. The
Jets fired 38 at the Preston net.
Both teams stuck strictly to
hockey with referee Gerry
Overholt of London calling only
six penalties, five to the Preston
club.
In St, Thomas Thursday night,
the London Kings held the Jets in
check for the first two periods
and were in front 2-1.
Jim Walker scored twice for
the Kings in the first period and
Tom Hodgins replied for the Jets
as he fired the puck home after
taking a pass from the face-off
from Jack Nairn.
The second period was com-
pletely void of goals as Lorne
Daer in goal for the Jets and
London's John McWilliam kept
their goal mouths clean.
In the third period McWilliam
was banished from the game
after he threatened the goal
judge on a dispute on the third Jet
score to move the score to 4-2.
Gord Imrie took over in goal for
the Kings.
Imrie stopped everything the
Jets threw at him the rest of the
way. The Jets did score with 10
second remaining but it was into
an empty net with Imrie lifted in
favour of an extra attacker.
John Boyd scored the final
King tally at 19.13.. At this point
coach Ralph Duffus sent six
forwards to the attack.
Scoring for the Jets in the third
period were Barry Baynham,
Jack Nairn and the disputed
score by Loveless on a
breakaway.
