Kirkton Brandi), Huron County
Public Library re-opened in its
new location last Friday night,
when the Kirk ton-Woodham
Community Centre was officially
opened.
About 2000 circulating books, a
reference section and a stand of
popular paperback books were
eagerly examined all evening. On
Saturday morning, in two hours,.
over 100 of the books were loaned.
Many were to children who found
the reference table and the
carpeted floor comfortable
places to relax and enjoy their
books.
The room is 22 feet square,
bright, with light coloured walls
and gold-colour carpet. Teak
tables, gold upholstered chairs
and of course the multi-coloured
books give the library an at-
tractive appearance. Little
children will find a low table with
small tangerine chairs especially
for them.
Residents will have full access
to all resources and services of
Huron County Public Library
through a request system. This
means that borrowers are not
restricted to the current book
collection at Kirkton. Four times
a year, 300 of the titles are
replaced with new. This annual
input of 1200 new books will keep
the book collection of continuing
.fresh interest. Other resources
include large-print books for
those with problems of vision and
200 16mm. films. Direct mail
service is also available for those
unable to get to the library.
Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Doupe
will be the local library super-
visor, Library hours will be 10
hours per week: Tues. 2-5, Thurs,
2-5 and 7-9, Saturday, 10-12.

Sports
As a result of winning their
semi-final best-of-three play-offs,
Cromarty and Chiselhurst men's
slow-pitch ball teams will meet
in the finals. On Saturday night,
Chiselhurst defeated Staffa by an
8-6 score and on Sunday evening
it was 25-8 for Cromarty over
Rays.
Last Monday a large number of
Cromarty fans travelled to
Kirk ton to see the second game in
the Bantam playoffs between
Hibbert South and Blanshard. In
spite of Brad Marsden's grand-
slam homer, Hibbert South came
out on the short end of an 11-10
score. This left the series tied at
one game each.
