Nixon singled again in the
fourth to chase Bill Wilson and
Roger Dougali across the plate, It
WAS Wilson's turn in the fifth to
single and score Dan McIver and
Noel Skinner with the final
Exeter runs.
Perry Preszcator's single in
the fourth was the big blow to
score the first two Crediton runs,
In the sixth Rodger Finkbeiner
and Mike Desjardine collected
singles to produce the last two
Crediton scores.
John Wuerth went the distance
on the Exeter mound to collect
the win while Mike Desjardine
and Rodger Finkbeiner shared
hurling chores for Crediton.
CREDITON
In an Western Ontario Athletic
Association midget game in
Crediton Sunday afternoon,
Wingham edged the Crediton
midgets 10-9,
At one point Crediton led 9-3,
but Wingham bounced back and
finished off with three runs in the
top of the ninth inning.
Crediton loaded the bases in the
bottom of the ninth but failed to
get the tying run across the plate.
In the first inning, Ron Bowers
singled, went to second on a
passed ball and scored the first
Crediton run on an error.
Creditors scored two runs by
Mike Desjardine and Ron
Anderson without the aid of a hit
in the second frame.
Five hits produced a six run
Crediton rally in the fifth, The
Crediton hits came from the bats
of Kevin Bestard, Larry Clark,
Rodger Finkbeiner, Mike
Desjardine and Harold
Eberhardt.
In the Crediton ninth,
Eberhardt and Wayne Clarke
walked and Ron Bowers singled
to load the bases.
The Crediton pitching chores
were shared by Kevin Bestard,
Larry Clarke and Ron Anderson.

R, B. Dunlop, Superintendent
of Business Affairs, for the
Huron County Board of
Education was authorized at the
Board meeting in Clinton Monday
to negotiate individually with the
custodians and to produce for
ratification at the earliest date,
recommended contract values,
and that this be completed by the
middle of August. -
On recommendation from the
Management committee, the
board and the McKillop Township
council will sign a 10-year lease
from September 1, 1973, to June
30, 1983, for the board to use the
area behind the McKillop
Township garage and office as a
turn-around for school buses and
loading of pupils for various
schools .The Board decided not to
blacktop the existing driveway as
the cost was too high - $3,000 for
three-inch topping.
The board will continue its
present policy on age for ad-
mission to kindergarten-fifth
birthday before December 31 of
the applicable school year. Some
of the sample comments from
schools on the suggestion that the
age by lowered are; More 4-year
old pupils riding buses could
cause problems; over 90 percent
of our teachers want the policy
left as it is; and lowering the
admittance age would merely be
robbing from next year's total
and not solving the problem of
low enrolments.
The board accepted the report
of A. M. Harper, chartered ac-
countant, for the official audited
financial statement. It will now
be submitted to the Ministry of
Education, and the superin-
tendent of business affairs will be
instructed to publish in all weekly
newspapers of Huron County the
summarized version of the
auditor's report.
The board will advise parents
of Bruce County pupils enrolled
or to be enrolled in Brookside
Public School, that if the Bruce
County Board of Education
refuses to pay tuition fees, such
pupils may complete their
elementary education in Huron
County schools, if the parents so
wish, at no cost to the parents;
. but that any children who have
not yet reached school enrolment
age will have to enrol in a school
designated by the Bruce County
Board of Education.
The board will refer the letter
from the Society for the Study of
the Heritage of Canada re
existing problems of current
"March break" to the
Administration for recom-
mendation when the 1974-75
school program is being drawn
up. The letter was prompted by
the number of students and
teachers who travel on field study
programs during the March
break and this puts a severe
strain on airplane, train, and car
travel and on hotels causing
overcrowding of facilities,
substandard accommodation and
increased prices.
The Heritage Society suggests
the holiday period be either the
first, second or fourth week in
March and even back to the last
weeks of February.
