The event has been endorsed by the ministry of community and social services as part of the program for homes for the aged. The committee of management of Huronview has declared open house for the week, and invites all senior citizens' clubs, or any citizen over 60, to come and join in the programs. For this week only, the dining room will be open to visitors and volunteers at a nominal charge and supper will be provided the day of the picnic, It would be appreciated if clubs or individuals who are planning to stay for meals would let us know in advance. Following is a schedule of activities: A special church service will be held in the auditorium June 17 with the choir of Ontario Street Church providing the music. Chaplain Rev, W. McWhinnie, will be in charge of the service. In the afternoon there will be a concert by the choir of Marian Villa, Home for the Aged, Lon- don.. Monday.afternoon there will be Old-Tyme music and dancing in the auditorium. Goderich Senior Citizens' Club will join with the Huronview residents in the ac- tivities and will assist with the music, Tuesday afternoon, Lucknow Town and Country Club members will visit Huronview. Rev. George Youmatoff, Rector of Hayfield and Middleton Anglican Churches, and formerly Padre of C.F.B., Clinton, will lead a sing- song in the auditorium. Rev. Youmatoff is well-known to most of the residents of Huronview because of the great interest he took in Huronview during the years he was stationed at the base. Wednesday, the annual Huronview picnic will be held on the grounds, weather permitting, or in the auditorium, if the weatherman does not cooperate. Emma Beaver, chapter queen, was commended for a 50 pound weight loss and also became a member of KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly), Rochelle Laporte was honored for having the highest weight loss in the Exeter chapter during 1972, She lost 40 pounds and became a member of the KIW (KOPS in Waiting). This is a three-month waiting period before she can become a member of KOPS. Working under an LIP grant, extensive work has been done on the building, in hopes that this year's theatre productions may be put on there, rather than in a large tent, like last year. The day's activities netted just over $1,000 for the Playhouse. This money will be used to help pay for the cement, washroom facilities, new steel roof and various building materials used in the renovations. Residents plan busy schedule to mark senior citizens' week Thursday afternoon there will be organ music in the auditorium. The Senior Citizens' Clubs of Hayfield and Exeter will put on a variety program for family night (Thursday evening, 7 p.m.) These same clubs provided the Family Night program during Senior Citizens' Week last year and it was really enjoyed by everyone. Friday is always Bingo day at FIuronview, burfor this week, it is hoped to have many "outside" seniors. The games will be held in the auditorium with some real prizes, instead of the usual chocolate bars, etc, Brussels' Senior Citizens will join the residents for the afternoon, June 23 there will be table games in the auditorium (progressive euchre, bridge, 500 etc.) Seaforth Happy Citizens' Club will sponsor this activity. + + + About 30 residents took ad- vantage of the fine weather on Saturday afternoon and attended the Clinton Spring Fair. The folks travelled by bus and were given a free pass by the fair board. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Finlay, Goderich, joined Norman Speir and Jerry Collins to provide the music for Monday afternoon's get together. Following the singing of Happy Birthday for those having birthdays during the week, two new residents were welcomed to the home: Myrtle Jacklin and Bill Trewin. Patients from Ward E of the Goderich Psychiatric Hospital, along with their director, Mrs. Ferris, visited the home and took part in the old-time music, dancing and sing-song activities. The regular Thursday family night program was changed to afternoon this week to ac- commodate two choirs from Usborne Central School, This group of 120 students along with the principal, Mr. A. Taylor, and teachers, Mrs. Hodgert, Mrs. Ottewell and Mr. Snell, had presented a concert at Goderich Psychiatric Hospital earlier in the day. This was a fine display of musical talent, with senior choir of 65 students singing 12 numbers and a junior choir of 50 singing several favorite numbers. A gymnastic team displayed their skill with tap dancing by twin sisters, Lyda and Lisa Morrison and a guitar duet by Valerie and Marlene Glanville.
