The residents of 'brow/Lew,.
along with other senior citizens of
Ontario, will celebrate Senior
Citizens' Week June 17 to 23. The
event has been endorsed by the
ministry of community and social
services as part of the program
for homes for the aged.
The committee of management
of Huronview has declared open
house for the week, and invites all
senior citizens' clubs, or any
citizen over 60, to come and join
in the programs. For this week
only, the dining room will be open
to visitors and volunteers at a
nominal charge and supper will
be provided the day of the picnic,
It would be appreciated if clubs
or individuals who are planning
to stay for meals would let us
know in advance.
Following is a schedule of
activities:
A special church service will be
held in the auditorium June 17
with the choir of Ontario Street
Church providing the music.
Chaplain Rev, W. McWhinnie,
will be in charge of the service. In
the afternoon there will be a
concert by the choir of Marian
Villa, Home for the Aged, Lon-
don..
Monday.afternoon there will be
Old-Tyme music and dancing in
the auditorium. Goderich Senior
Citizens' Club will join with the
Huronview residents in the ac-
tivities and will assist with the
music,

Town and Country Club members
will visit Huronview. Rev.
George Youmatoff, Rector of
Hayfield and Middleton Anglican
Churches, and formerly Padre of
C.F.B., Clinton, will lead a sing-
song in the auditorium. Rev.
Youmatoff is well-known to most
of the residents of Huronview
because of the great interest he
took in Huronview during the
years he was stationed at the
base.
Wednesday, the annual
Huronview picnic will be held on
the grounds, weather permitting,
or in the auditorium, if the
weatherman does not cooperate.
There will be games, races, etc.
commencing at 2 p.m, and
Wingham Senior Citizens' Club
will assist with the program,

TOPS attend convention
Several members of the local
chapter of TOPS club (Take Off
Pounds Sensibly) attended the
annual TOPS convention recently
at the Ivanhoe in London.
Emma Beaver, chapter queen,
was commended for a 50 pound
weight loss and also became a
member of KOPS (Keep Off
Pounds Sensibly),
Rochelle Laporte was honored
for having the highest weight loss
in the Exeter chapter during 1972,
She lost 40 pounds and became a
member of the KIW (KOPS in
Waiting). This is a three-month
waiting period before she can
become a member of KOPS.

"Many of them there for about everyone, Mr. Murphy
described it as a "very festive, were
very colorful atmosphere". Some
people brought box lunches and
picnicked onthe tables provided in
the "bare'. Others took ad-
vantage of the foods and
beverages which were for sale.
"Everyone was curious about
the renovations and im-
provements we have made on the
barn," said Mr. Murphy.
Working under an LIP grant,
extensive work has been done on
the building, in hopes that this
year's theatre productions may
be put on there, rather than in a
large tent, like last year.
The day's activities netted just
over $1,000 for the Playhouse.
This money will be used to help
pay for the cement, washroom
facilities, new steel roof and
various building materials used
in the renovations.
Residents plan busy schedule
to mark senior citizens' week
Thursday afternoon there will
be organ music in the
auditorium. The Senior Citizens'
Clubs of Hayfield and Exeter will
put on a variety program for
family night (Thursday evening,
7 p.m.) These same clubs
provided the Family Night
program during Senior Citizens'
Week last year and it was really
enjoyed by everyone.
Friday is always Bingo day at
FIuronview, burfor this week, it is
hoped to have many "outside"
seniors. The games will be held in
the auditorium with some real
prizes, instead of the usual
chocolate bars, etc, Brussels'
Senior Citizens will join the
residents for the afternoon,
June 23 there will be table
games in the auditorium
(progressive euchre, bridge, 500
etc.) Seaforth Happy Citizens'
Club will sponsor this activity.

About 30 residents took ad-
vantage of the fine weather on
Saturday afternoon and attended
the Clinton Spring Fair. The folks
travelled by bus and were given a
free pass by the fair board.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Finlay,
Goderich, joined Norman Speir
and Jerry Collins to provide the
music for Monday afternoon's get
together. Following the singing of
Happy Birthday for those having
birthdays during the week, two
new residents were welcomed to
the home: Myrtle Jacklin and
Bill Trewin.
Patients from Ward E of the
Goderich Psychiatric Hospital,
along with their director, Mrs.
Ferris, visited the home and took
part in the old-time music,
dancing and sing-song activities.
The regular Thursday family
night program was changed to
afternoon this week to ac-
commodate two choirs from
Usborne Central School, This
group of 120 students along with
the principal, Mr. A. Taylor, and
teachers, Mrs. Hodgert, Mrs.
Ottewell and Mr. Snell, had
presented a concert at Goderich
Psychiatric Hospital earlier in
the day.
This was a fine display of
musical talent, with senior choir
of 65 students singing 12 numbers
and a junior choir of 50 singing
several favorite numbers. A
gymnastic team displayed their
skill with tap dancing by twin
sisters, Lyda and Lisa Morrison
and a guitar duet by Valerie and
Marlene Glanville.
