Errant dog causes crash
The other two accidents in- Drury, RR 3, Ailsa Craig and

A vehicle driven by Deborah
Lockie, 207 Columbia Drive,
Huron Park went out of control
when it swerved to miss a dog
which ran across the highway.
The driver and three
passengers, Alice and Catherine
Koehler and Natalie Lockie were
taken to St. Joseph's hospital in
London for treatment. They were
released later the same night.
Cuts to Mrs. Alice Koehler's
face required 35 stitches,
The investigating officer

The 16th Annual Poultry
Industry Conference and
Exhibition will be held in the
Progress Building, Western Fair
Grounds, London, on June 12, 13
and 14, Displays of the latest
poultry production and
marketing equipment will again
be a feature of the Exhibiton, as
well as daily information
meetings for poultry producers.
A special ladies program is a
new feature of the 1973 Con-
ference. Miss Gertrude Kable of
Checkerboard Kitchens, St.
Louis, Missouri will be on the
program each day to discuss the
topic "How You Can Help
Increase the Use of Eggs, Turkey
and Chicken in Canada".
The daily attendance prize
draws and the draw for three
grand prizes will be conducted
again. Three grand prizes con-
sisting of 100 lbs. turkey, 100 lbs.

drawn and 11 a.m. will be the

Future of the Industry",
Chicken Day is Wednesday,
June 13. A topic of interest
"minimizing Rising Feed Costs"
will be discussed by K, Gartley
and Dr. E.T, Moran. Dr. R.M.A.
Lyons of the University of
Manitoba will discuss the topic
"A Co-operative Approach in
Maintaining a Viable Poultry
Industry".
Thursday, June 14 has been
designated Egg Day with talks on
ventilaton and egg handling and
how it may affect the number of
cracked eggs marketed.
The Conference is open to
anyone interested in the poultry
industry. Registration cards are
available from any of the
numerous exhibitors as well as
hatcheries, egg grading stations
and feed suppliers. Admission is
free to those with a registration
card or costs one dollar per
family at the gate.
The Huron-Perth Roman
Catholic separate schools are
participating in the first of a
series of folk and square dance
workshops. The participants,
teachers from Our Lady of Mount
Carmel School, Precious Blood
School, Exeter, Ecole Ste Marie
School, St. Boniface School,
Zurich, Early Childhood
Education Students from
Lambton College, Sarnia and the
Grade 7 and 8 Square Dance
Pupils from Ecole Ste Marie
School, hopefully will pass their
acquired skills of dancing on to
the classroom children.
Instructors for this course
include J. B. McCarroll,,
Physical Education Consultant,
Miss P. Rowe, Physical
Education Department, South
Huron District High School, and
Mrs. V. Zyluk, Precious Blood
School, Exeter.
The first program Wednesday
started with John McCarroll
introducing the teachers to well
known marching pieces so that
kindergarten children can be
fully aware of their body skills,
space available to them, and
their relationship with fellow
students. The teachers used their
arms, legs, and various other
parts of their body to show their
feelings to the marching music
stimulus.
Later they joined in a more
formal dance of the "Alley Cat"
where they learned definite steps
and patterns of music, Then they
were organized into groups of 4 to
plan a variation of combined
movements suggested within
their groups. They like the
children, were given the op-
portunity to create their own
different patterns of steps and
body movements.
"Caring" was the theme for the
north-west regional rally of
United Church Women held at
Lieury United Church on
Thursday evening, The new
regional vice-president, Mrs.
M.H. Hodgins, Lucan chaired the
meeting.
Members were present from
Ailsa Craig, Brinsley, Carlisle,
Clandeboye, Lieury, Lucan and
Parkhill.
Mrs. Roy Ward, Chairman of
the London Conference U.C.W.,
Standing Committee of Division
of Mission, and Mrs. A.B. Kilb,
President, Middlesex
Presbyterial U.C.W., both of
London, brought greetings and
gave inspirational messages.

Chairman of Social Action &
Social Service Committee,.
Middlesex Presbyterial U.C.W.
chaired a panel discusson on
Mrs. V. Zyluk taught the at-
tending teachers the steps of the
"Virginia Reel." Then Miss P.
Rowe demonstrated the popular
Folk Dances "The Crested Hen"
and "The Tennessee Wig Walk."
Before starting the square
dance, Mr. McCarroll taught the
English Folk Dance "Green-
sleeves."
In conclusion the square dance
pupils from Ecole Ste Marie
School did two historical Huron
County Folk Dances. After this
demonstration, the audience
joined in with this lively group.
Nearly 50 teachers, students
and spectators took part in this
opening workshop at St. Boniface
School, Zurich. They left the
Workshop with materials to help
their class understand "To Dance
Is To Live."

Plans for the annual flower
Sunday and Dedication to
Mission were made on Wed-
nesday when the teachers and
officers of the United Church
school met.
All groups of the church are
invited to share in the Dedication
to Mission, by presenting their
contribution to the Mission and
Service Fund on this date. The
church school children will
present their "pop cans" for
"World Development" during the
service.
