The Women's Institute met in
the United Church with 22
present. The opening ode was
played by pianist Mrs. C. Reeve.
Roll Call was to name a wild
flower.
The business was conducted by
new president Mrs. Clara
Hamilton. Mrs. Ed. Gill gave the
district Director's report. A
motion to send $25 to Adult
Rehabilitation Centre, Dashwood
was passed. On June 21 a
smorgasbord luncheon at
Anglican Parish Hall is planned,
with a friend or husband
welcome.
Mrs. Bariteau, resolutions
convener outlined resolutions on
school buses, and against
legalizing marijuana. The bus
resolution recommends "that all
traffic meeting or following a
school bus should stop when the
bus stops to take on or discharge
passengers, regardless of the
speed limit or whether bus lights
are flashing."
Mrs. Colin Love, horticulture
convener , introduced Mrs.
Lawrence who talked on Scotch
heather, Mrs. Love spoke on the
motto "He who plants trees loves
others besides himself" and gave
us ideas about fertilizers and
pruning.
Sugar maples, our national
emblem, and trilliums, our
provincial flower were featured
for their beauty and a plea for
their preservation.
Mrs. Alvin Best, Grand Bend
Laundeteria won the lucky ticket
for a cart-full of groceries at the
"Tenderspot" from Schneider's
"truck load sale" held last week.
Dave and Nelson Desjardine
are home safe and sound after a
15,000 mile motor-cycle trip of
North America. After Mexico and
California they spent con-
siderable time in New Orleans,
Mississippi and Arizona. They
took part in a Mardi Gras in
Mexico. Their bike tires are worn
out. They arrived home Friday to
a warm welcome from their
family.
Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Mac-
Donald with their guest, Mrs.
Tom Kooy, Ailsa Craig, visited
Mr. & Mrs. Wilbur Sutherland at
Ilderton, Saturday,
Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Belt and
Mrs. Joseph Moore, all of Detroit
are visiting Mrs. L. Bariteau and
will attend the funeral of Mrs.
George Belt at Parkhill.
Mrs. Naven, Guelph and
Buelah Holt, London spent the
weekend with Mrs. May Holt,
Mel and Olive Peariso, owners
of the variety store, have been on
a trip to Texas. Ruth-Ann looked
after the store,
Rev. A. Willis and Mrs. Willis
have attended a family reunion
for the Chaytors, his wife's
people. Sixty people met in St.
Luke's United Church basement
in Sarnia with guests coming
from Toronto to Chicago.
