The coffers of 540's building
fund will soon be enriched.
Apparently the women's bowling
league enjoyed the banquet laid
on by the men for them at the
conclusion of last years bowling
season. What happens, this year?
Both women's bowling leagues
have requested the men of
Branch 540 to prepare and serve
their banquets. We have accepted
the challenge.
Now when our Chief Chef
Comrade Bill Smith calls for
volunteers stand up and be
counted. Sure its a lot of work but
is a lot of fun as well.
The bowlers of Branch 540 will
invade the Lucan Lanes for the
third time this season. That's
right folks by popular request we
will hold a mixed bowling party
on Sunday, March 24. Starting
time 3.00 p.m. sharp - Come on
over to the Legion prior to that
time so we can get the teams
arranged and get the games
started on time.
Following the meet there will
be the presentation of prizes. and
I use the word "prizes" advisedly
at Branch 540 and a pot luck
dinner.
If you are interested drop over
to the lounge and place your
name on the list or just give the
boys a call at 227-4751 and they
will be happy to do it for you.
Remember if you intend to bowl
don't forget to bring along enough
eats for at least two. To date the
eats at these do's have been
fabulous. Make it a point to at-
tend, the eats alone makes it
worthwhile attending.
Don't forget Commander Bill
Smith's, Zone A 5 meeting to be
held at Branch 540 on Sunday,
April 15. Keep this date open and
make it a point to attend. Bring
your lady along and make a day
of it.
Once again we remind our
delinquent Comrades to please
get their dues paid prior to the
end of March. This is the dead
line Comrades for after this date
your subscription for the 'Legion'
will terminate, as will your voice
in Legion affairs. You will also
lose your right to vote in the
forthcoming elections or have the
privelege to nominate the
Comrades you feel best able to
look after the affairs of your
Branch of the Legion.
It is human nature to disagree;
however this is no reason to
neglect payment of dues to the
finest organization conceived.
Remember what our
organization stands for -
Remember our aims and objects
- Remember the price, our
Comrades paid - Remember all
these things and I feel sure you
will have no difficulty in
remembering to pay your Legion
dues.
And that's 30 for this week -
remember - Don't Judge a man
by his speech, for a parrot talks
and the tongue is but an in-
strument of sound.
