GREENWAY
"Pis the weekend now in Green-
way town
And time again to report.
But who knows what, and how to
find out
With such a storm about?
The wind blew strong and
snowdrifts high
Did all but exclude the view
Of the general store and Car-
man's shop,
The mayor's henhouse, and
churches too.
On Saturday night, the St.
Patrick's dance,
In the suburbs of this town,
Was cancelled to a future date
Because the snow came down.
The churches' doors on Sunday
morn
Were also closed up tight.
For it still blew, and no one knew
Just when we'd see God's light,
Some folks were sad, and some
were glad.
But some were so distressed,
For weekend plans were all
upset;
They weren't content to rest,
But Ken and Ruth Ann Eagleson
Were lucky as could be,
They hopped a plane on Friday
night
For the islands of Hawaii.
And Pauline Scott, a little girl
Who lives 'near Crediton town,
Came home from school on
Friday night
To be with Alice Brown.
And cousins, Bill and Alma Curts,
Way from Saskatchewan,
Are visiting with the Curts' here
For two weeks, from dusk' til
dawn,
There's two way traffic to
Florida
For some are comin' and goin'

To choose a successor to M.P.P.
Charlie,
Would it be Jack or Don or Paul?
What once was a riddle
Still proved to be Riddell
Or am I mistaken, do tell?
For I have been told
Although I'm not sold
That I should pronounce it Ri-
Dell.
"Pis Monday now, the storm has
gone
So I fold this up, and mail it.
No more, I know, but if you do
Don't fail next week to tell it.
By the way: Putting away
something for a rainy day
requires a longer stretch of clear
weather than it used to,
It takes 1,2 cords of wood to
produce a ton of newsprint.
