The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1973-03-22, Page 5Ph.D in Physics Robert Ernest Mickle son of Mrs. Laird Mickle and the late Ernest Laird Mickle of Hensall, recently completed the re- quirements for the degree of Ph.D in Physics. He will receive his diploma during spring convoca- tion at the University of Western Ontario London. Mr. Mickle is a graduate of South Huron District High School in Exeter and has received both his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Master of Science Degree from Western. He is now working on a post- doctorate fellowship with the At- mospheric Environmental Services in Toronto. We Fix 'Em All! Area 4-1-11 have busy Arnold Circle The Arnold Circle of Carmel Presbyterian Church held its meeting Monday evening at the home or Mrs. Norma Stretton, President Mrs. Joanne Bell presided and opened the meeting with a short story. The worship entitled "The lonely road" was conducted by Mrs. Erlene Stewart and Mrs. Mildred Bell. The Arnold Circle received an invitation to attend the W.M.S. meeting in April. Chiselhurst The March meeting of the Chiselhurst T.J.C,W, was held Tuesday afternoon at the church with President Mrs. Alvin Cole presiding. She opened the meeting with a poem followed by the theme song and prayer, The worship was taken by Mrs. Earl Kinsman entitled "Green Revolution of India". Mrs. Fredo Boa was in charge of the program, Mrs. Tom Brintnell gave a report on the Huron-Perth Presbyterial held in Seaforth recently. Mrs. Clarence Coleman gave the second chapter of the study book on India. It was decided to have a slip and bloomer sale at the May meeting. Hostess for the afternoon was Mrs, Rosa Harris. women sessions 4-H Club Meeting The fourth meeting of the Hensall 4-H "Sew-sews" was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Bill Fuss. Finished necklines were demonstrated. Plans for the Achievement Day fashion show were discussed and the girls compared their gar- ments to ready made ones. WI The March meeting of the Hensall Women's Institute was held in the Legion hall with President Mrs. B. Beaton in the chair. The roll call "What I would like done if 1 were on the local council", brought many in- teresting answers. Conveners Mrs. ,J, Corbett and Mrs, C. Payne arranged a most interesting program about the work of the United Nations, Mrs. Corbett showed many nations' flags and Mrs. Payne sang the. U.N, hymn. Others taking part were Miss A. Lammie, Mrs. E. Riley and Mrs. P, Bisback. Mrs, W. Carlile thanked all those who took part and a contest was conducted by Mrs. R. Elgie. Hostesses were Mrs. M. Sherrltt and Mrs, G. Peck. Poly Pack Home rendered Lard For the. first time since the plant opened, a group of mobile home owners toured through Hensall plant no, two of Bendix Home Systems, formerly Boise Cascade. The group of 42 men and women came to Hensall last week from Sandy Cove Acres in Stroud to tour the plant and to see just how their homes are made. General manager of the plant, Ted Brunston, hosted the tour, took the group out for dinner, and then helped to explain the various stages of production. Sandy Cove Acres is a development area of about 170 acres, and all the homes located there were made by Bendix. There are more than 300 homes there now, and there will be eAdo4tai4 Linda Bell, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bell has successfully passed her Grade 8 piano from the Western Ontario Con- servatory of Music with honors. Linda is a pupil of Greta Lam- mie, Fred Brock returned home Wednesday from a stay in University Hospital, London. Mrs. Aldene Volland returned home last week from her stay in Victoria Hospital London. Howard Lemmon returned home this past week after spending two weeks with his sister Viola Lemmon and un- dergoing minor surgery in a Toronto hospital. Dr. & Mrs. Robert Mickle, London visited Thursday evening of last week with the former's mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. Sim Roobol who has been a patient at South Huron Hospital for the past number of weeks, returned to her home this week. 4 1111111 1111111111 0111111111111111111111111111111111 11111 approximately 420 when the development site is completed. There are three different models of homes located at Sandy Cove, the 48 by 22 foot Argus, the 44 by 20 foot Royal and the 36 by 20 foot Simcoe. The homes are mounted on cement pillars, and receive full city services including, sidewalks, cable TV and sewers. The residents, who have come to the development from all over Ontario and Quebec also have a shopping centre, a community centre and several recreation areas, all part of the development, The Sandy Cove Social Club, formed by the residents them- selves, organized the Hensall tour. As they visited the model home at the plant, they made very close inspection of it, comparing various aspects such as the cupboards, and panelling to their own homes. Some had suggestions for Mr. Brunston about the convenience and appearance of certain facilities within the home, Others expressed personal preferences, and still others could be heard exclaiming, "Oh, what a good idea!" as they viewed certain Village resident passes away Ann Morrison Foote passed away in Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall March 17, 1973 in her 91st year. She is survived by three nieces. Funeral service was held from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel, Hensall March 20, 1973 with Dr. Stewart of New St. James Presbyterian Church, London, officiating. "We just wanted to see how our homes were built," said one lady, "and we are certainly seeing that". By MRS. HEBER DAVIS Mrs. Leslie Greenlee and daughter, Kimberly Ann, returned home from St. Joseph's hospital Saturday. Church was cancelled Sunday due to the storm. Next Sunday they plan to hold the service at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis. Mrs, Harry Carroll held a quilting on Monday for the ladies of St. Patricks church. Mr. & Mrs. Robt. Quinton visited Mr. & Mrs, Earl Greenlee Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Albert Dickens and Jim, Lambeth and Mrs. Ida Armitage, London were recent dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis.
