Another hearing
A notice had been received
from the Ontario Ministry of the
Environment that a public
hearing will be held in the Grand
Bend Village Hall on Friday,
March 23 to discuss the location
of a lagoon facility to serve Grand
Bend.
The proposed locations are in
the vicinity of Lots 4 and 5, Sauble
Concession in the township of
Stephen.
Clerk Wilmar Wein said
Monday he expects the township
will oppose the proposed
locations. At a hearing in Sep-
tember of 1972 numerous protests
were heard for a lagoon location
much closer to the Lake Huron
treatment water plant. The main
objector at that time was Carl
Turnbull, owner of most of the
land in question.
Low tax arrears
Clerk Wein told council the 1972
tax arrears are being sent to the
County of Huron for further
collection, Wein said the amount
of tax arrears for last year was
$34,180, which is only 7 percent of
the total tax roll.
A land severance application
from Mrs. Gisela Zemitis at part
of Lot 16, North Boundary was
approved.
