DASHWOOD
The Dashwood trustees held
their monthly meeting January
30 at the community centre. The
three trustees plus interested
rate-payers were in attendance.
The highlights of the meeting
were as follows: Shirley Tieman
was unanimously appointed
secretary-treasurer for both the
Trustee Board and the Hydro-
Electric Commission. Through
the initial preparation of the 1973
budget, it was revealed that the
1973 tax revenue will be down
from '72 due to a lower assessment
evaluation pertaining to the
former Dashwood Industries
plant. The business and com-
mercial assessment evaluation
amounting to approximately $42,
425 was eliminated following the
sale of these buildings to the
South Huron Mentally Retarded
Association.
A draft by-law is to be
prepared by George Tieman and
submitted at the next meeting
which in turn will request per-
mission to erect stop signs at the
corners of William and Roland
streets and Fried and Roland
streets.
The annual Firemen's dinner
dance sponsored by the Trustee
Board was scheduled for Wed-
nesday, February 14,
The trustees agreed to a
request by Emil Becker to no
longer permit the removal of the
auxiliary water pump from the
fire truck. This pump was
previously being used by local
citizens to pump water out of
their basements, The excessive
wear and maintenance to the
pump and the loss of fire fighting
capability during these occasions
was the primary concern.
The Hydro-Electric Com-
mission meeting was scheduled
for Friday morning, February 2.
