Churches hold annual meetings,
discuss plans for Centennial

The Exeter United Church
congregation voted Sunday night
at its annual meeting, to hire a
former minister, the Rev. Harold
Snell as an assistant minister,
Mr. Snell who had made tentative
plans to retire in Exeter at the
end of June of this year had been
contacted earlier by Bob South-
cott and Rev. glen Wright at the;
request of the Official Board' to
see if he was receptive to
a part time pastoral relationship.
Mr.,Snell said he would find such
a relationship very enjoyable. He
said. he considered Exeter his
"best ,ministry" and would
welcome a chance to work again
with the Exeter people.
Mr. Snell will be hired on the
basis of two days per week and
one Sunday per month, with his
work to begin July 1.

cent increase in its
congregational givings over the
previous year, Mr. Wright at-

many donations
The South Huron Hospital
board has recently received
several donations.
They have beep received from
Mrs. Fred Loughton, Brown-
sville, Texas; Mrs. William
Middleton, Exeter; and Mrs.
Phillip Rudolph, London, for-
merly of Creditor',
Mrs. Helen Mickle, public
relations committee of the board,
said the contributions will be put
in the hospital building fund for
future use.

The congregation adopted a
budget for 1973 that included the
completion of, a new office and
storage area and the releading of
three stained glass windows.

The congregation enjoyed the
change in the annual meeting
format, This year the meeting
was combined with an old
fashioned "concert" - an hour of
talent from the congregation.
Anglican Annual Meeting
Trivitt Memorial Anglican
Church held its annual
congregational meeting in the
Parish Hall Sunday evening.
The new slate of officers
elected is as follows: rector's
warden, Nelson Monteith;
people's warden, Ralph Gentt-
ner; lay delegates to the synod,
Mrs. Allan Elston, Mrs. G.R.
Doidge, and Miss Marion Bissett;
substitute lay delegates, Mrs. A.
Carter, Mrs. J. Wooden, and
Hugh Montgomery.
The two wardens and lay
delegates form the parochial
committee, and are also on the
Board of Managers, Also on the
board are Donald Osborne, Mrs.
W. Bentley, Mrs. G.A. Anderson,
E.L. Gibson, Joe Wooden, Allan
Elston, Mrs. Nelson Monteith,
and Mrs. Peter Contion. Auditors
are Mr; and Mrs. Cecil Smith;
secretary-treasurer, Miss
Marion Bissett; and envelope
secretary, Mrs. Allan Elston.
Plans were also discussed for
improvements to be made to
church property during the year.
They are hoping to repair some of

and do exterior repairs on the

Special centennial services And
programs were discussed but no
final decisions made, The annual
chicken barbecue will be held in
May.
Votes of thanks were given to
the various officers for 1972,
including two young people,
Debbie Wooden, a Sunday school
teacher, and Kathy Wells, who
looks after the young children in
the nursery,
